How on earth do you get enough water in???

Recommended Posts

I am 6 days post off and should have 48-60 oz of Water a day. How on earth can I get that in??? I am still on a liquid diet so you'd think it would be easy but it's not.. I do good to get 32 oz in a day.

Any suggestions???

I'm 9 days post op and having no problems getting my fluids in. I'm currently hooked on Propel and drinking constantly. No "stuck" feelings, it's all going down smooth.

The hard part for me is the "sipping".. I can't seem to get enough Water just by sipping.

You can include Protein Shakes as part of your required daily intake (or so I was told). I also drink a lot of Crystal Light lemonade. Another good idea: If you are driving somewhere, take a water bottle in the car to sip on.

Crystal Light is my friend. I mix up a 2 qt pitcher and my goal is to finish it in the day. Some were told no straws, but I kept a drink with a straw in my hand constantly following my surgery and sipped consistently. I never had a single problem with it.

I never think about Water. I just drink if I'm thirsty and I'm a bit of a coffee addict too - regardless of what they say, coffee IS Fluid - I dont drink strong brewed coffee, I drink Decaf instant coffee most of the time.

If you just keep sipping though out the day, you'll be fine. After some of the swelling goes away, you can drink lots more. I keep something with me to drink all the time.

I keep a bottle with me at all times and just sip, its hard to sip.....I love my Water and am so use to gulping it. I also by the single crystal lites and keep a few in my purse....it helps to change up the flavours of your bottled Water so that its not so boring, it helps me.

Caffeine is a diuretic, so whenever you think you're drinking in fluids with coffee or caffeinated tea, you're actually taking Fluid away.

For every cup of coffee you drink you should technically be drinking at least one glass of Water.

(I know, I don't do it either!)

Thank you for all the tips and suggestions. I do keep Water with me and I also flavor them, it just seem hard to get so much Fluid in! I use to have no problem.. I think it's the sipping thing, you just can't take as much in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
