Davis this is Michelle from Greenwich .... How are you doing? Feeling better? I have a crazy question... Kate said to make one 9oz shake in the morning and then split it into 3 servings.... Do you think I can make 3 - 3oz shakes?

Hi Michelle - I'm doing better each day - I think she said make 9oz because we are putting 2 scoops of Protein in the shake & it's easier to get the correct grams ? As long as you think you can get the correct grams by making 3 individual shakes it should be fine - I have been pouring my shake into a 3oz Jello cup - I'm also using that same cup for Water - how are you doing?

Oh yeah, getting out of bed or up off a chair without arms is painful. I have also decided that if it's on the floor it is going to have to stay there for now. Hurts WAY too much to pick it up. I have been getting in at least 48 oz. of fluids. I just keep sipping those small 8 oz. Water bottles all day and then have some tea or broth. I don't get to have shakes or anything besides Clear Liquids yet. Sigh....even a yucky flavor Protein Shake sounds good at this point.

Get2chris 42oz's is really good - it's pretty interesting the different protocols that everyone has - did they do a leak test on you?

@ I'm doing horrible with my liquids. I may get down 10-16 oz a day. The gas pain makes me scared to eat or drink anything.

Just took the gauze tape up a bit and to my surprise staples. I am not mentally prepared for staples. I can't get myself to take the rest of the gauze tape off because I might pass out if I see the staples. What a day! I am not getting enough liquids either. Trying but my meds knock me out. How is everyone else? One day closer to being better I hope :)

Davis I am feeling pretty good. I walked around the mall for two hours this morning. I am not loving the vitamins...it took me a while to eat the calcium.....and Water is not my friend but I am hoping tomorrow will be better!

I don't know if it will work on my 4th day off post op. And doing everything right but I feel so weak n low in energy. The only way I was able to get fluids down is to stand and sip. The gas pains weren't as bad.

Had my surgery the 15th. So far I'm having lots of gas pain, especially in my left shoulder. Also my incisions are starting to itch like crazy.

I'm getting down my liquids and Protein OK but I think my protein is contributing to the gas. Anyone else having this problem?

No gas pains here. Got a call from the doctor this morning and I can start clear Liquid Protein today. Been sipping my Water that past few days and tea, that's about it. will see what the Protein does.

Myssjones try some warm drinks.< /p>

AJP they took my bandages off in the hospital and I was surprised to see staples too. That's a lot of staples. Starting to itch. Oh well, they will have to go on Tues.

@@mroth28 I just went and got some and they've been working good. Today in general has been a much better day in the way of me getting down fluids.

@@Alexandra Jackson My gas was very intense the first 3 days post op. Drinking warm Water, gas x strips, and sipping constantly has helped control it some. It's much better today.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
