Hi Folks! i'm just about to leave for the airport! hopefully i will be infection-free this time! and have a lapband fitted on Tuesday :nervous

Chimboree the same thing happened to me with the infections! so frustrating i didn't even know i was ill :) then to be trapped in a foreign country for a few days when all i wanted was to go back home :cry now i am dreading the pre-op tests more than the surgery! hope you sail through yours :(.

won't be back until Friday 13th :phanvan so will probably take a few days to catch up on all the posts by then!

good luck to everyone else being banded this week! :biggrin1:

First, I tried the chewable Centrum that I found at Safeway and they are actually good...so there's an option! They weren't too pricey either, which is a bonus for me!

Cherea - Man, that sucks for you! Keep those positive thoughts, drink lots of Water and pee that infection right out! You could always ask the doc to culture the urine and actually find out what bug is growing and get antibiotics for that particular bug. I swear my calling is the State Ombudsman!

Kristen07 - Since I'm flying from Alaska to Denver (right now in fact) I have a shopping list for Walgreens: Protein powder, chewable Vitamins, gas X strips, papaya enzyme (if you get "stuck" it will help break down to food so it will go down), someone also mentioned an ace bandage like thing for your tummy...I might try that, we'll see. You should take the opportunity to try some Protein powders and shakes NOW. Also have on hand some Clear liquids for post-op and some mushy foods for post-post-op...I was told by my doc that they should be the consistency of applesauce.

I feel like I missed a few pages...couldn't really keep up with some of the subject matter...and I read a TON of pages. We have a LONG lay-over on my way to Denver for the surgery.

ONLY 24 HOURS LEFT!!! YIKES!

For those of you who were concerned...my baby chicks are now doing well and walking, eating, and drinking like normal. Now I'll be able to feed everyone for Christmas! LOL!:biggrin1:

Dini my sweet - You're still sounding negative! You know, I had a friend/boss from Ireland (she moved back about a year ago) and she came to Alaska to work for a bit....maybe you need a change? Oh yeah, that's right, you GOT A CHANGE! You're pretty hot in your before pictures and you'll be even hotter soon! Try to stay positive! You don't want that little girl picking up negative thoughts. You did this for you, so you can be happier...so start being happier!

Hi Everyone! I am excited to say that I am a July bandster as well! My surgery date is the 16th! I have been on a pre-op diet for a week now. It is not hard now, but, at first.... look out! I swear my eyes were turning red and my head was making a full rotation each time my husband ate something! I had to leave the room for fear of wrestling him to the ground. Luckily, I have gotten pretty used to it and am in full surgery mode! I also wanted to say that I have really appreciated reading all of your posts. It's wonderful to feel like your not alone!

Welcome HollySue,

My name is Christy and I am new here as well, I was banded on 07/02/2007. I have had a wonderful experience, just a little bit of gas pain and some hunger but I have managed to work through both issues. Right now I am still on liquids for 7 more days, but there are many things that you can eat. Next week I get to go on to the "mush" or pureed diet and I am looking forward to it. I want to wish you best of luck with your procedure and I will keep you in my prayers. If you have any questions that I can answer please let me know, I enjoy talking to everyone about there experience, It is nice to know that you are not alone.

Please let me know if I can help you in any way!!!

Well today was my weigh in day, I have lost 9 lb since surgery. I am now down a total of 31.5 lb total :clap2:, I cannot believe this, it is actually working. After so many years of struggling, it is like a breath of fresh air to see the scales starting to decline. I know that I have a long way to go yet but it feels good to get a good start on it.

I hope everyone is doing well, and to all that are having surgery today, You are in my prayers

Good Morning everyone. I've been in Bandland 1 week today, and have lost 12 lbs according to the scale yesterday. I'm not weighing agin until Friday, then once a week on Friday from there on.

Laurend, I didn't have the BM until 5 days post surgery, so I wouldn't worry too much. Especially since you've ben on liquids.< /p>

Holly Sue, welcome to the Lucky 7's.

gladster12, I bought SF jellos, puddings, those packets for Water (I'm loving the SF cherry limeade from Walmart, very tasty, like kool-aid)

small curd cottage cheese, slim fast, Soups, SF popsicles, SF fudgesicles.

bun1, good luck to you.

nurse76, great job on the weight loss. You lost a lot before surgery too. You're on a roll.

lindaa, I do have hunger pains sometimes, but it's always close to my next meal. I'm suprised at how fast they subside once something hits my stomache. It's like instant gratification, and they leave.

sandy pants, sorry I can't help you out but I was self pay. I started all this on March 1st, and just got banded last Monday, 7/2. It's not a quick process, and now it's so popular, that many patients are trying to get the surgery, so it may take some time. Be patient, it's worth it.

So I have my son by myself starting this week, no mother or MIL to help me out.:omg: I hope we have a good day. I'm thinking we may venture to the park later on. Have to pack some items to drink on while I'm gone.

Have a great day everyone!!:)

I need some encouragement, I am feeling so hungry right now, not sure if it is mind hunger or actual hunger. My grandmother is staying with me and she was craving a hamburger, so I just went to McDonald's and got her a hamburger meal, Lord help me I wanted to eat some of her fries soooooooooo bad. Does anyone else get this way?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
