Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I was banded 07/02/07, and feeling great, only problem is that I am hungry, but I have moved up to full liquids such as Jello and creamy Soups so this helps. I thought I would feel some restriction but that is definetly not the case, but my doctor warned me that I may feel this way. I can't even tell that I have had surgery. The only gas pain that I have experienced happened yesterday 6 days post op but it was painful.

Good luck to all on your upcoming surgeries.

I just had the first of my preop tests done yestercday. Finish up on Tuesday. I attended the seminar again yesterday so my husband could get more information about the surgery. Go to the surgeon's office tomorrow to sign papers and get prediet and post surgery information. Start liquid diet tomorrow. Can't believe it will be over in 12 days.

Tomorrow is the big day and I am excited but feeling weird today. It is hard to explain because I don't really think it is nerves, but more of a " blue" feeling. Did any of you that already had surgery feel this way? I think I have done all the right things to prepare myself for this, but I just don't seem to be

able to shake it today. HELP!

Karen

Good luck. I'm sure some of it is just the unknown. I know I start on my preop this week and am scared that I won't be able to stick to liquids and will get hungry. I am also worried about liver size as I have had hepatitis in the past which has caused permanent increased size. I'm sure you'll do fine and it will all work out. I know I look forward to hearing from you and the others who will be banded this month. It will be nice to have some support from people who are experiencing the same thing.

I felt blue before my surgery as well, all the emotions you feel leading up to the surgery kind of wear you out. Don't worry you will feel better once it is all over, I am 7 days post-op

Hi Chickb,

Wow! What honesty! I think we all know, deep inside, that just losing weight is not going to change who we are. It may remove some of the barriers--either real or imagined--that prevent us from letting other people get to know us. That's one great thing about these bulliten boards. We can get to know each other without forming judgements based on appearance. I think that as we lose our weight, our phyhsical relationships will become more like our online line friendships. More and more, we will stop letting what others think about our appearance influence what we do or where we go. As we lose the We will gain confidence that people will get to know us as people--not "fat" people.

You already have much to contribute. First of all, you are on a journey that many people fear to travel. Through this experience you are developing empathy for what other people experience in their lives. For us it is our battle with weight. Someone else may have health, personal, or emotional issues. What everyone is looking for is for someone else to listen and be empathetic. That is what we give each other through this board, and it is what you have to contribute to the people you encounter in your day to day life. You're only 26! Every day you are learning something new--I still am and I am more than twice your age. All of that learning is what you have to contribute, and you will never know how you may impact someone else down the road.

Good luck in your journey. Keep us posted!!

Chick, I used to be like you, not going places, seeing people because of my weight. But I was talking with someone (I don't remember who) who made a comment about this is our only life and we need to enjoy it while we can. That made such a profound impact on me. I realized I was letting life pass me by. I must admit I haven't gone out and done everything but I am gradually getting out more and living life. my attitude is F*** everyone else's opinion of my looks. My friends and family love me and who give a d*** what anyone else thinks. Excuse the language...:biggrin1: So I wish I sould remember who had such a profound impact on me, but think about it. And gradually get out there and do things with your family. They love you just the way you are (I think of Bridget Jones Diary when I typed that)

Chunky Buddy - Well, it's you and me on the 31st, rounding out the month!!!

Lynette - thanks for the encouraging words, I'd pretty much come to that realization myself, all things happen for a reason! I read your progress each day and I hope your gas discomfort is almost gone!

Chick - I know where you are coming from, I hid away most of my younger life, even though I did have to work, I would rarely put myself out there in situations where comments could be made. I wish I could pass along my more confident self (something I acquired as I got older) to you that hiding away doesn't make life stop moving along. I'm so glad you are doing this for you at 26, you will have a lifetime to figure out who you want to be as a more slender woman. But I have a sneaking suspicion that you will "grow" into it along the way.

Don't be hard on yourself - it will be a slow journey for all of us and we will adapt to those new images of ourselves just fine! I wish you all the best....and remember, with you having children you will never be able to hide away, not with all the activities they will be involved in!

Welcome nurse76. I see you found us. I just sent you a PM about 10 minutes ago.

Caolin, the gas is gone today. Hooray. Hope you're feeling better about everything.

chickb13, I think we have all thought about what it's going to be like on the other side of all of this, and I don't think it will be easy, but I think it will get easier on us, day by day, as we feel stronger, and healthier, and we'll slowly gain a little more self esteem. I think if you think positive, then positive things will come your way.

james2539, maybe what your feeling right now is what they call the mourning of the food stage. Your thinking about what you'll have to give up, and it is hard. No one said it was going to be easy, and you're allowed to feel this. Know your doing the right thing, and keep that in your mind. Hope you're feeling better and best of luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes.

ribearty, good luck on your liquid diet starting tomorrow. I feel for you.

Dini, I went out shopping today, SHOE shopping. Got another pair of flip flops for my summer collection. My son got a pair too. His velcro isn't working well on his old pair (my excuess to get him a pair)

Chimboree, hope you're ok. Haven't seen a post recently.

Sunny, lindaa, how ya doing. Your remodeling so close to surgery. Your all are brave.

dmtjet, good luck tomorrow.

I am thankful for a DH that has been very helpful and supportive through this whole thing, so far, and my son, who's been giving the booboos on my belly kisses so they get better. I'm thankful that other than weight, I am a very healthy 35 year old. I'm thankful for my friends, most of whom support me more than my mother, and that I have a job that allows me to take 4 weeks off to recovery physically and mentally from this surgery. I'm thankful that I had to work hard for everything that I have, because I appreciate it more. And last, but definitely not least, I'm thankful for GAS-X!:clap2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
