Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies. I'm having one of those hmmm? days. Has your OP, Evilah, disappeared? The July Butterflies OP, PennyLane, appears to have given up on this site as well.

Hey Donna - Evilah hasn't been back since she 1st made this thread - I didn't join until I got my date on like 6/20/07 and I have never seen her since that date???

We had like 50+ pple when we 1st all go out dates - if not more than that - but now we are down to just a few who post regularly - me - peaches - phyl - step - kari - denise - some of the oldertimers will pop in every now.

Heck in the beginning you would ck in at night and have 10 pages to read.. now we are lucky if we fill up a page in 2 or 3 days...

You will notice as the months go by that alot of pple will drop out - then may show up for a day and then you won't hear from them again for months....

LBT has become my transfer addiction and I have made some wonderful friends here who I will always stay in contact with - so I won't be leaving anytime soon :rolleyes2:

Hi,

Internet comes and goes! It's a struggle doing anything. Been on now for maybe an hour so I'm doing whatever I can.

Congrats, Steph, on the scale moving today!!

Very nice!! TWO POUNDS TO GO!! WTG!!

I wasn't so lucky this week. I was up 1 lb! How will I ever get to that magic 100 lb loss at this rate! Not to make excuses, but had to take my wedding rings off last night because they were so tight they were hurting. So may be retaining some Fluid this week. My own fault, probably, as I fixed something for dinner the other night that had a can of Soup plus a package of dried onion soup mix... probably too much sodium for me! Anyways, there's always next week. I've told too many people about my impending 100 lb loss and my diamond earrings that are waiting for me to lose those last few pounds. So now I have a cheering section waiting and watching. There's good and bad in that... the accountability is motivating, but the pressure is uncomfortable! Birthday party for the neighbor tomorrow night and they'll all be watching what I eat and drink!!

:thumbup::tt1::rolleyes2:

Donna, what seems to be going on? Sometimes just putting words to it makes it better. I think it was about the point you are now in the process when I started losing interest. The newness had worn off and it had really started to sink in that this wasn't going to be as easy as I thought it would be. About this time Karri found me and invited me over here.

Here I felt like I could really share what was going on in my heart. It just felt like home. I hope you can feel like that on this thread too. I honestly think this is what a true SUPPORT group should be like.

So tell us what you are feeling. A lot of times just saying it puts it all into perspective...and other times just admitting to everyone that you are going to REstart tomorrow makes it real. Makes you MEAN it. I can't explain it. But share with us. We are here for you. And if sometimes we sound hard or like we don't understand, that is SO not the case. We fought our battles hard. There were times for all of us that the battles black and blued us. There were times I was sure I was losing my mind. Others that I hated everything that everyone said. Talk to us here. We'll do what we can.

This may sound dumb. ... but have you been getting enough liquids in? I always feel more ho hum, don't really care, hate it all, when I've gone a couple of days on very low liquids. How dumb it seems, but that's my experience.

I'm listening....oh....and thank you for your comments on the December thread. That is my home board, but this one is my family.

Oh....am I the only closet poptart eater? They were a serious addiction for me. There are still days that I can't not eat them. I LOVE them. How stupid is that? Anyways...guess what I found?

Fiber one makes poptarts. Nothing that I want to overindulge in but at least I know that there is a better option when I need that something. Had a pack today. 190 cals, 4g pro, and 5g Fiber. I will not eat a pack a day but I feel better knowing they are there when I can't take it any longer.

I agree here with Janet. I'm lost without LBT. I really don't think I could done it without these ladies. I am just so sorry I couldn't make the get-together last summer. I can't wait till next year. There is no way I'm gonna miss it. You ladies are family. You understand. Luv you guys.36_2_80.gif

You are not the only closet pop tart lover here. Brown sugar and cinnamon............yummy, Before, I'd eat both that are in a packet, toasted, lots of butter.........(better stop now) Now, I'll eat the same kind. But only one...and not toasted.......and only for Breakfast (instead of as a snack) Maybe once a week.

Kari, they have cinnamon fiber one packs. I bought the choc and the strawberry. They were on sale for .99 a box. I loved the strawberry one I had today. We'll see about the choc next time I'm feeling the craving.

Good Morning Gang

Phyl - Yep I bet you are retaining Water if your rings were too tight.

Ok 5.5 lbs to go to your 100 lbs mark - so let see you lose a few and then rebalance so lets give you a date of 12/8..

Thats 4 weeks... Up to that???

Just cut the wine a few time a week and make sure to you get to the pool.. You can do it...

Steph - I like poptarts but never a biggie for me.. Things like mash potatoes with TONS OF BUTTER.. Don't get me wrong I love my sweets - but they weren't daily - I was just a plain over eater who ate HIGH FAT - HIGH CARBS - HIGH SUGAR .. I rarely ate veggies cuz - GS doesn't eat them and I just wouldn't take the time to fix them for myself on a daily basis..

Kari - it sounds like you and me love to put butter on everything - heck I would make a bacon sandwich and dip the bread in the bacon fat and have cheese on it too...

Oh I love fat....

Well off to work - cbl

Janet,

Oh yeah...my biggest problem has always been carbs. I'm a definite carb addict. Bread is my big downfall. I could eat a whole loaf of garlic bread. If I could add cheese, it was a definite plus. My kids are just as big carb addicts. Nick would rather eat bread than anything. Mac n cheese is his favorite food. Mixed with a pbj and he's in heaven. I can't get him to eat veggies most days. Jaimison on the other hand will eat anything. Her favorite food is yogurt and fresh fruit. It's great that she is better, but I don't know how to change Nick's habits.

I made Jeff a grilled cheese, pickles, and bbq beef sandwhich the other day...and when I was done with it I looked at it and couldn't believe the heart attack in the making I had just fixed him. It was really amazing that I didn't realize it until later.

Okay....back to doing stuff I need to do. Have a great day ladies.

Yeah, I think I can do that. I have to. The whole neighborhood is watching and waiting! Earl already cut my wine. No more refills of my little glass. Of course, tonight we have that birthday party next door, so there might be an exception to the rule! We'll see. Still couldn't get my rings back on last night!

Well, time to get to Water aerobics.

Later.

HEY.... where's Karri??? Anyone heard from her??

Steph - bread with tons of butter or cheese - yes sirree.. I gotta say I was everything - I still love fat.. I miss it the most - but gotta say I still don't take the skin off my chicken - I still eat it - not a big chicken eater - but when I do - I still eat the skin :frown:

Phyl

Ok at the bday party - you want that extra glass of wine or the cake - you have to choose what one thing will be your little indulgence - only one - remember you are still in weight loss phase with a goal of 12/8 to hit your 100 lbs mark... So whats more important to you that 100 of that glass of wine..

Heck take the wine and add some crystal lite juice or whatever to it - or flat diet seven up... that way you still get your wine but less of it

Had to go in & get a few things for tonight. DH got the groceries while I shopped for a funny card & gift. Then he calls me on my cell phone to come and look at bathing suits at the outlet store. I like Maxine suits and he said they had several of them. Can you believe HE is calling ME to come and look at bathing suits??? He's usually trying to KEEP me from spending money!!

Long story short... I bought another one only this one is a size 16! It's a little snug, but I got it on!

Amazing!

SIZE 16!

I'm going to save it for a few weeks.... 5lb, probably.

By the time you hit your 100 lb mark you'll be in it! Fabulous accomplishment! You are dropping sizes like they are going out of style! Way to go.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
