Hello all!

I am from the DFW area and like most of the people here I have struggled with excess weight my entire life.

I have done numerous diets, numerous times with some great success, but the weight always found its way back by my own hand and mouth.

One year ago I witnessed a coworker have the gastric sleeve and I thought, "Why would anyone do that?" I decided right them that I would start watching what I ate and work out again. I thought I could do it, but my goal got out of sight and the weight piled on.

Well, fast forward a year and I see that "Easy-Way-Out" coworker and guess what? He looks great and has dropped 100lbs. He is not stressing about food and has no medications to take any longer.

Now here I am and weigh much more than I did a year ago and am experiencing pain and the very certain future that I will be on medication soon.

I finally saw the light and came to the realization that I was severely obese and needed to do something that works.

I came to the gastric sleeve after doing research and finding this site. All of you that take your time and contribute to the post on this site are a life-saver! I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you have all gone through and your willingness to share your joys and struggles.

I made the decision to meet with Dr David Kim (I know reviews on him are mixed. I found him to be capable and CLOSE to home:). My first consultation was 10/31/2014. I set an aggressive timeline and received insurance approval on 11/7/2014, and got a surgery date on 12/11/2014.

My hope is to finally find some direction and use the gastric sleeve to help guide me back to a manageable weight.

Reading all of your posts have helped me over the last 6 months and I wanted to say thank you all for your stories. I hope I am able to do the same. I don't think I would have ever been prepared enough if it were not for what you all do one here.

Thanks!

Hey there, I see your surgery with Dr Kim is coming up very soon! He was my doctor almost 3 years ago and I have no regrets using him. He changed my life! Saying prayers all go well! And make sure you join our private Dr Kim fb patient group, it helps getting tips from fellow patients with the same plan. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
