How long did it take you to reach goal?

I'm wondering how long it took everyone to reach their goal? How much did you have to lose? Do you struggle with maintaining?

Took me a year to reach my original goal of 140 lbs. I had over 100 lbs to lose. Maintenance is a struggle because I can now eat significantly more and I can tolerate everything.

I was a fairly light weight at 240 on day of surgery 12.12.13, 5'7"

Got to my initial goal of 175 by 4.5 months out (end of April 2014)

Current goal is to reach and maintain 155-160

I currently fluctuate 163ish to 167 at 11 months out

Heaviest weight 293 back in 2009-2010 (too scared and uneducated about wls at that time)

Simple carbs go down super easy and are hard to resist so yes it's a challenge to maintain despite my pretty significant commitment to fitness: power yoga, Pilates, hot yoga, barre and spin classes ????☺️????????????????☺️????

My sleeve allowed me to eat SIX Oreo Cookies last night (3 pumpkin spice, 3 peanut butter) within less than 5 minutes and I could have gone further but wanted to leave room for my moms homemade turkey stew ☺️????

Takes me forever to eat lean Protein such as turkey and chicken and I have to chew super duper slowly, ugh lol #vsgProblems ????

I started at 238 and wanted to lose 88 pounds. My surgeon's goal was to lose 78. I lost 22 pounds on my 2 week preop diet so I went into surgery at 216. I reached his goal at 6 1/2 months, reached my goal at 7 1/2 months and then lost another 12 pounds. At 10 1/2 months out I am down 100 pounds and have been maintaining here (give or take about 4 pounds) for a couple months.

So far maintenance has been easy for me. It just comes down to being committed at this point because I have no food intolerances, a lot less restriction than a few months ago and I could eat a lot more than I let myself eat. I eat when I'm hungry....at least 5-6 times/ day but make good food choices. I don't exercise at all, but I have an active, physically demanding job and have a very active lifestyle. Still making sure I'm getting in all my Protein and Water and take my Vitamins religiously. I still have a large protein/fiber smoothie everyday, and eat a healthy balance of Protein, veggies, fruits and grains. I Stay away from processed food and simple carbs, although I will have desert or alcohol or other "bad" things a couple times a month. I'm not on a diet, after all! ????

It took me 10 months to get to my initial goal which was 150. That was 128.4 pounds lost.

Then I decided I needed a new goal of 139, which would put me at over 50% of my original weight lost. So I hit my revised goal of 139 at 12 months post op. So that represented a loss of 139.2 pounds.

Now, I have another revised goal of 135, which is another couple of pounds away. I'd like to definitely reach that by the end of the year, which would be 15 months post op.

As far as maintaining (since I do essentially view myself as "at goal" since 10 months post op....the 2nd and 3rd goals are just bonuses) I haven't found it terribly difficulty. I give myself a couple pound range where I'm not going to freak out because Water weight fluctuation, time of the month, etc....but beyond that my body does a pretty good job of just kind of hanging out around the same couple of pounds.

With that being said, I do still follow the rules as far as Protein, Water, and carbs. And I run.....a ton......like, 30 miles a week.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
