Am I the only one?

Recommended Posts

Hi yall

I am in the, process of completing all my pre-op test and will be,sleeved in December. I feel as though I have become obessed with food labels. How much protien, carbs, sugar .... Trying to find what is going to be the best to eat after ... I feel annoying to my husband trying to teach him and my children. They dont say anything or get mad. Am i the, only one who,has become like this ?

No, you're not the only one :o) Hubby is getting mildly irritated (bored?) when I'm reading the forums and start to mention something like "hey, this person did this or that" or "hey, this person lost xxx lbs in xx months!" I'm trying to not make it my only obsessive point of conversation (I'm pre-op, paperwork submitted, orientation/psych test this week...) - but we're all trying to learn so much from what type of surgery would work best, what to eat/not eat, what's a tasty Protein shake (something I never thought I'd say, lol -- ), to serious complication issues, all about carbs/proteins -- it's a lot -- so I try to keep it as subtle as I can and come here to get my "obsessiveness" jones on, or is that out? :o)

I use to do the same thing on other diets and will probably do it after the surgery. I think it's normal because we want to make sure we're eating the things with the right ingredients.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
