I've been stalled for about a week! I'm not even taking in 500 cals because my stomach returns everything I give it. Why am I not moving?

That may be the reason you are stalled. 500 calories is not enough for your body to allow you to lose. You will stall if your body is in distress. Unless you up your calories by 3 or 4 100. It will be a slow loss. I know you have issues with up chucking. That is normal as well. Try to work on Protein intake and up those calories. There are tasteless Protein powders you can add to smoothies.

Also try to stay away from the scale too much. That is only going to lead to self sabotage...Follow the guide lines set out for you and it will happen..okay..:)

I remember how frustrated I was when I was in your situation, so I sympathize. But just hold on. As you get further out, things will get better. As you heal you will tolerate a lot more food.

You will one day (and it won't be long) find yourself worrying about eating too many calories, even though you eat much less than an average person. I am at that stage now.

The idea of having to eat more to lose weight sounds contrary when you think of people who are literlly starving and are skeletal. But there is something to it. I have lost 65 pounds in ten months, but have been on a plateau for the last three months at 600-800 calories and under 30 carbs. When I had a visit with my primary physician about ten days ago, he suggested that I up my calories, eat more carbs, and make my bedtime cocoa with 2% milk instead of Water. He also said to push myself to increase my exercise.

I have heard of that concept: eat more / exercise more and eat less / exercise less. Clearly, 600-800 calories was not supporting any consistant exercise and activity. The good news is that a couple of days ago, the scale started moving down again. Maybe it could be worth it for you to try the eat more but exercise more idea.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
