Glad to help! I love my sleeve...the first few weeks aren't the greatest, but that's how it is with any surgery.

Keep us posted on your journey! I'm excited for you!

I'm a type II diabetic, but I chose the sleeve anyhow. I just was not comfortable with the plumbing reroute. My diabetes is gone. As of September my HgA1C is 5.5%, which is normal. Not just normal for a well controlled diabetic, but normal for anyone. anecdotally, I noticed more sleevers at my post op class. I know RNY is the standard, but I was just not willing to deal with the possible complications down the road.

I'm 6 months post op now. I'm down over 100 lbs from my all time high. While I can eat more now than I could at the beginning, it's like 5 to 6 oz of food at any sitting. So the restriction is still there.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to check in with you and let you all know that I am now 2 weeks post op and I did choose to go with the sleeve. (I kind of threw the doctor's office into a tail spin with my last minute change of plans. They had to get a new authorization from my insurance company and squeeze me in for an upper GI in less than 7 days but we got it done.) It was absolutely the right decision for me vs. the bypass. I am getting used to a new lifestyle and ready to go back to work on Monday. I haven't had any complications thus far and am really happy with my choice. Still on full liquid diet for another week before I go to pureed diet for 4 weeks. Down 18 lbs and ready to be healthy once and for all.

Thank you all again for your insight. I really appreciate it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
