Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a stall after 3rd week post op and how long was the stall? I had surgery august 5th and then the stall happened in the 3rd week and now its the 6th of November and I'm still in the stall I was 320 pre op 314 on day of surgery and currently 295 my clothes are getting loose and my lower back pain is gone but the scale has not moved more than 295 and 290 I know it takes time and a lot of work but it is very frustrating to me that I haven't lost the weight by now:( I can drink as much as before surgery without restriction and my meals have been cut in half with restriction I'm more active eating less food and just drink Water or coffee but nothing is working Is there away to jump start and get out of a stall because i need one any suggestions will be great thnx

A stall at week 2 or 3 happens to everyone. If you just keep following the instructions for Protein, exercise and Water, it will pass. I know how frustrated you feel, I was going crazy too. Keep your chin up!

My doctor said a way to get over a stall is to increase your calories significantly for 2-3 days (say, 1100-1200) then drop them back down to 800.

Increase your Protein, decrease carbs, change your exercise routine and the intensity of it. Get your labs checked to make sure nothing else is going on. Track your food to determine your daily counts; you may not be eating enough calories.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
