The Pre-Op diet is this something that everyone has to do, cause I seen the majority of the post say they had to do it, but I also seen a few said their surgeon didn't require the pre-op liquid diet? I don't mind doing it, cause I am sure it's very helpful to lose as much as possible. Also the surgeon at the seminar I went to their office require it, says losing the extra weight makes it easier to see the liver during surgery, any and all feed back is welcome... Thank You In Advance :)

My surgeon requires a two-week pre-op diet that's basically a modified Atkins. No carb, no sugar, low fat, no caffeine, no carbonated drinks, small portions, etc. I was told it was to jump start my weight loss as well as shrink my liver.

for my surgery and most of us uk patients we have to go on a pre op diet, its either shakes or (as i have picked cos i'm greedy) 4 weight watcher Soups, 4 muller light yogurts and a pint of semi skimmed milk. the reason is the liver is in the way during surgery and has to be pushed or lifted out of the way, the diet shrinks the liver size lessening the chance of damage. hope this helps you understand why some do it

My dr. Said nothing the night before after 5. I saw others do the 2 week and I wanted to go through that process to prep myself. It'll make u stronger and I appreciate the journey that I'm currently going through. Stay focused though.

Today I just started my 2 weeks liquid diet and my surgery is April 23rd. Question? My friend had bypass done in February and she told me that was ate hard boiled egg whites (no yolk) throughout the 2 week liquid diet. She said her surgery was fine and the doctor said everything looked good. Has anyone else tried egg whites or other alternatives?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
