Ok this may be TMI but when after your surgery did you have your first bowel movement? Im still waiting on mine and it's been almost 72 hours post surgery.

@@briefs199 How's it going?? No pun intended. I'm going to say you probably weren't putting much in prior to surgery, perhaps a liquid diet?

What type of diet are you on as of now? Are you on clear, or Protein shakes? Are you sure that you are hydrating well?

I would suggest giving the Dr. a call and letting them know you are not expressing anything tell them that you are concerned.

They will probably tell you to take a stool softener to help things along, but give them a call first so you don't take anything that you shouldn't.

Let us know...ummm how it goes.....;)

I'm on a liquid diet. Not clear liquid. I'm not putting much in and have not even drank one 11oz Protein Drink yet so I'm not sure what could come out!

That is more then likely why you are not going. That said it's not good to not keep yourself hydrated. Please start getting in more Water. Try sips of warm Decaf tea, use the spoon to take a sip and or get a small medicine cup and keep taking sips. You need to get the fluids in my friend, if you are on pain medication that will also bind you up so drink drink drink.

The warm will help to relax the muscles in the esophagus, but for swelling another great trick and a great way to hydrate is to get some sugar free Popsicle. they are yummy and they will keep you hydrated as well and help to reduce the internal swelling.

Let us know how you are doing OK?

I was surprised that my surgeon's office did not address this ahead of time. Even though I didn't take pain medication, I still had severe Constipation and I had to address it on day four or so. I took Milk of Magnesia. Love the prune juice idea but did not think of that at the time. Even though I was on a two week plus all-liquid diet, I still had some major bowel action. Important to take care of this -- I'd call it in to see if they have any input, if only to let them know that this is something their patients need to know about. Best wishes to you!

I have heard some people say ex lax helped them, I really don't know because I had already had major IBS before surgery , but since surgery & the hiatal hernia repair not much problem at all ,by the way did you get a hiatal hernia repair while being banded just thought I'd ask since I know you were asking about it before surgery, I guess you are starting to feel a bit better that's good.

No hernia repair.

I was told I could take milk of magnesia so I will do that but wondering when I should pull the trigger so to speak.

I had a moving expression day after surgery. I was on Protein Shakes before and starting day after surgery. Everything seems like a watery powder... but I have a lovely moving expression at least once a day. I am using a Water your body app to keep hydrated.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
