Could Not Getting in My Water Be Causing this Stall?

Recommended Posts

I'm exercising, calorie intake is typically under 1000, and I'm hitting the Protein goal, what I struggle with is getting in the liquid...could this be slowing my weight loss? I've been in a stall for weeks!

What week are you in?

Could be. Are you exercising? You might need more calories if you are going hardcore on the treadmill. And I had a two week stall two weeks out. It blew. I also gain 5 lbs each month because of my period. Then it falls off with reinforcements.

I'm 13 weeks out, and my exercise is mainly walking 2 miles on my lunch break 3-4 times a week, and hitting my eliptical for 30 minutes here and there too, so not hard core, but great for me since I did little to nothing before.

And I have to be honest, I track everything and have been keeping calories at 1000 or under as I mentioned, but occasionally I'll eat one Oreo, and this week was halloween and I ate a few mini snickers bites, I could count them on one hand, where before I'd sit down with the candy bowl and polish off most of it, and those little treats made me happy, I think it's unrealistic to think I'll never touch chocolate again, but I'm keeping control of the situation. Or am I kidding myself and thinking that way is why I'm not making progress? I'm down 48 lbs so far, but it's been weeks since I've seen movement on the scale, I just have this constant fear that I'm blowing it.

Don't forget to use your dietitian! Write down everything you eat for a 3 day diary. Bring it to the RD. She/he can help you crack the code on your stall.

My stall was for about 2 months. Started weight training-2 times a week, and the scale is starting to move again but very slowly. All is good if you remember that this is a journey, your body is adjusting.

We all gained the weight that brought us to surgery because we were kidding ourselves. Granted some of us have physical limitations too, but the fact is that "occasional" oreo and the few pieces of chocolate are catastrophic to those of us that deal with one indulgence, two indulgences, 15 indulgences. You get the point. Don't start down that road of lies. Get the crap out of your house and refocus.

You are right, I'm not at my goal, I'm not at the maintenance phase, I'm allowing myself to walk on dangerous ground this early. I didn't go through this to go back where I started, I'm in this to succeed. Refocus starts NOW! Thank you!

Define stall? Water is very important. However, I see many on this board that dont see the scale move for a couple of days and cry stall. As my NUT says a stall means no weight loss for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks of not losing its time to see a NUT and figure out what is going on. But you need to have an accurate account of everything you eat for them to help you. It's sad ,but in my face to face support group there are individuals that will be in tears because they have not lost the weight they wanted. But when asked to accuratley log their intake they use every excuse in the book as why they cant keep a food log. I log every thing I eat, every day but the weekends. Sure your brain makes up excuses for one to cheat on documenting intake, but one only cheats themselves when they lie to the log. Accuracy is paamount to one success.

It's closer to three weeks since I've seen a change on the scale, and I track EVERY bite. Luckily I have a follow up appointment already scheduled for the day after tomorrow with my NUT. I also set reminders on my phone to prompt me to get my Water in. I'll get there.

Fat only leaves the body through water.,, so Water intake is vital. You have to sweat it or pee it out.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
