Embrace your own success and everyday victories!

Recommended Posts

I think we all need to embrace our own successes and everyday victories for what they are, a true blessing of a gift we've been granted for a fresh start to our health, our future and that of our loves ones. Too many people choose to dwell on the negative and all the bad things that come along with this journey. I choose today and everyday to be grateful for this blessing and to live my life accordingly in the future. We all need to remember those who support us and back us up while others try to tell us we are "taking the easy way out". Anyone who is going through this or has, can tell you this is not easy but it is what we must do to get our lives back on track for our future and that of our loved ones. So no matter who you are, what small victory you've had or haven't today, stop for a moment and remember the path that led you to where you are and the amazing future set out before you if you embrace these successes and everyday victories and be the amazing person you were meant to be!

This is a great message and the only thing I would add is "stop comparing yourself to others". Nobody is the same and nobody will lose at the same rate. Live with love and light. Thanks for the post! I will remember this after my surgery <3

embrace our successes and everyday victories

@@mariomomi

nicely put and written :)

these successes/accomplishments are commonly referred to as NSV's (non sleeve victory) :)

NSV's vary from buying a smaller size clothes to squeezing in between 2 cars with no problems :)

able to put a little tush in the middle seat on an airplane, with room to spare!! ;)

you guessed it - these are 3 of my NSV's :)

look forward to all the NSV's you will be having post op

great feeling :)

you will see B) how far you have come - and eventually will go :)

good luck

kathy

I love this post. I just posted to this forum this morning because I am surprised and shocked at how I am doing and wanted to see how people thought I was doing and making sure I wasn't missing anything.

This is a great reminder to focus on the positives, there will definitely be negatives, but if you choose to focus on the positives you will succeed I believe that!!!

Thanks for posting this!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
