I've been on this crazy journey since June but so glad I got it all started and I'm finally nearing the end. I had to complete 3 months of pre-op diet for my insurance to cover, but that gave me the time to get my mind straight, get the nutrition stuff done and ready and all testing completed. I'm 46 years young, 5'3" and currently at 227.
 
My surgery is set for this Thursday, October 30th, after having to be reset due to a hospital/insurance issue. Again, I'm glad it happened as the new hospital is more experienced and has a dedicated bariatric unit with 9 private rooms for only bariatric patients and a full staff of experienced nurses and specialist who will be there every step of the day. So we leave here at 4am Thursday morning to make the 2 1/2 hour drive down to San Antonio and I should only be in there overnight, as long as all goes well.
 
My highest weight was 235 and I've been on the liquid diet for the past 2 weeks. I'm currently at 227 and so ready to get to the finish line and start losing/winning for the rest of my life!!
 
It's time for me to get the me who has been hiding in here for the past 18 yrs back out among the living and be as strong and powerful as always. My why is my children, I have 4 - 2 adopted and 2 bio and my wonderful husband who has been very supporative and loving every step of the way.
 
So I look forward to Thursday with eyes wide open to the future. I've done my research (on serious information overload) and ready to roll!
