How many of you find you eat faster than recommended?

Is it because we are experienced with chew chew chewing with the band? I don't think I ever take a whole 20 minutes to eat. I am 7 weeks post revision from band to bypass, so I'm not eating that much anyway. I can't make 4 oz last 20 minutes.

I agree, I find I don't take that long to finish my meals. I have to practice chewing my food more but I guess practice makes perfect. Good luck to you.

I asked my dr. about it last week and he said as long as I wasn't having any problems, it is fine.

Thanks, that's good to know. I will chew more but not feel guilty about it if I don't take a long time to finish a small meal.

I have almost identical story, first lapband then bypass. I am 4 weeks post surgery and I have no idea what to eat.

I don't want what they want me to eat, I just don't feel like eating. I like to eat apples, greek yogurt is also OK, but I don't care for cottage cheese. Can you tell me what you ate? You are doing so well.

@@Liz W Do you still have restrictions? I looked back at my food diary on My Fitness Pal and it appears I ate deli meat, cheese sticks, tuna, Soup with added Protein Powder, small portions of casseroles. I was also relying on Protein Shakes a lot to keep my Protein levels up. I had a lot of trouble with Constipation then because I didn't have room for fruits and vegetables yet. Good luck to you! In a year, you'll be where I am!

Looking back at it, having the Lapband was kind of like auditioning for the RnY.

It was a tough audition, but it really taught me how to chew my food well and reduce the amount I swallow.

Also, once it was removed, it made me grateful that I was able to eat healthy again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
