4 weeks since LB, still eating

Recommended Posts

:) I had my surgery on April 17, I was on the liquid diet, started with the mushy food, quickly noticed I had no problems eating. I started eating more & more with no problems. I have yet to have a fill, but I'm wondering is this normal? I've been eating just like I was before the surgery.

Yes, it is normal! You haven't had a fill yet, so you are wide open. Just remember that just because you can eat it all, doesn't mean you should.

When you start getting fills, things will start to change for you. Good Luck!

I was in the same boat, was banded 3 days after you I just got 1st fill yesterday (when my Wife had her surgery). I'm on liquids and w/ good reason. I don't think I could eat any solid. I have a vg band and they put 3 cc in.

A vg is the bigger band. And from what I can tell it is the hardest tto slip (they say?) Yes it would be hard to eat solids but i could probably get some down but Doc said 2 days liq.

Hi CHHS- I was banded April 23rd in TJ. Having same exact experience as you. Am now eating exactly the same as before banding. The one thing I've been doing is trying to practice chewing my food (30 times) before swallowing and not drinking with meals. It's hard to break old habits so I'm using this pre-fill time to try and do that. Still, I'm having lot's of anxiety about doing damage to the band or not doing it "right". Would love to hear how your healing is going.

Just posted a reply to you but I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to all things techno and I think I posted it incorrectly. I pressed "quick reply"- so my reply is somewhere on the site- not sure where. Are there instructions somewhere on how to build your profile, put on pictures etc. Everyone has these tallies of weight loss and cute pictures and I can't even reply to another user without breaking out in a rash!

Also, wanted to add that all the different doctors with vastly varying post-op instructions seem to indicate that there is no totally "right" way to behave after LB surgery. Seems like not overeating to the point of PBing or gagging is just common sense but as far as how long to stay on mushies or liquids- it seems very different. And I totally agree with you that if I had the kind of self control that would allow me to not eat solids for 6 weeks, I wouldn't have found myself in TJ getting abdominal surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
