I will! I almost can't believe the day is finally here. This decision was 7 years in the making for me.

Don't be stronger than your pain pump, use it as much as you can to be comfortable.

Good luck

Best wishes! Here's a tip. Don't be afraid to ask last minute questions and don't be a caregiver while you need care. Which means; don't be embarrassed or ashamed to push that call light and don't apologize for needing help! You'll do great!

Hey everyone. I am doing really great today. I was released from the hospital the same day as my surgery. I was able to drink, pee and walk around fairly quickly. Some how I got lucky and my gas pain only lasted a day. Until this morning I was having a lot of trouble drinking. I could easily get it down but it felt weird and uncomfortable when it hit my stomach. This morning I'm drinking hot herbal tea and it feels great. I'm really going to try and focus on getting all my fluids in today. sleeping was a little tough for me the first couple nights because I don't sleep on my back. Last night I was able to sleep on my right side for half the night and that really helped. How is everyone else doing?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
