What a difference a year makes...

I had my surgery on May 19 2014. Best decision I have ever made. I've had great sucess and continue to drop weight. It's changed my life. People treat me better at work, at the store, and everywhere else, it seems. I've enjoyed seeing people's reaction to my transformation and the positive feedback I've been getting. I've met a super great guy. He's making me very happy. I'm enjoying life more. I'm addicted to walking. I go for one or two 30-40 minute walks a day. I listen to music and soak up the beauty around me. I just feel so much happier. We had family photos a couple weeks ago and for the first time, in a long time, I felt confident and beautiful. I wasn't trying to hide behind my sisters or son. What a great feeling!!

Way to go! You look amazing. Was your only form of exercising walking or did you do other things as well?

So far I've only been walking. I've been pretty consistant with it. I walk everyday on my lunch break at work (who needs 45 minutes to eat anymore?) and many days, I'll go for another walk when I get home at night. I live in Michigan and the weather won't be good for walking much longer so I'm going to start using the gym soon.

How much have you lost so far? My conversion from lapband to gastric sleeve was 4/10 and I'm down 60 lbs. it seems to be a lot slower for me this time around but I feel much better.

I've lost 100 pounds since the middle of May. Congradulations on the 60 pounds! Its so exciting to start dropping the weight! Good that you are feeling better this time too. Just stick with your Protein, don't snack, and walk as much as you can. We'll get there!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
