Although all the food looked and smelled amazing yesterday. I had no appetite at all! I ate a little bit of Jello and was satisfied. eventhough I'm a few days postop I'm still pretty sore on my left side and have a little swelling at my site, but all in all recovery is going great! i was even able to do some shopping last night! I hope all is well for everyone else!

Like others, Thanksgiving Day proved to not be anywhere as difficult as we thought it may have been. I went to our family gathering with my shaker and some chicken Protein broth just in case I couldn't make a meal from what was on the menu. Since I've added soft/pureed foods I didn't find it hard to do at all.

I had about a tablespoon of each: mashed potatoes, butternut squash, broccoli casserole, and a smidge of dressing on my plate. I mashed everything well with my fork and put a little gravy on it. I only ate about 1/3 of it, then had my Protein Shake about an hour later. I was happy to have tasted some of the real food, and totally content. The only thing I didn't try was a little turkey, but I may try a tiny bit pureed tomorrow when Pete fixed the whole meal here at home. He loves to go visit with family for the holiday, but hates not having the leftovers to eat all the next week.

I'm going to simplify the whole thing be baking several sweet potatoes whole, and making some green Beans or peas. He's all about the turkey, stuffing and gravy anyhow.

I think we all deserve a shout out for being so committed to what we're doing!!!

It's been almost three weeks post-op and my doctor still has me on liquids. I have started eating a little bit with a few bites of mash potatoes and had half a scrambled egg today. Neither came back up.

However, I have been naseous the last fee days and I wasn't even naseous in the hospital. More, nothing tastes right and I have a constant "taste" in my mouth - no matter how much I brush my teeth. Also, I am always thirsty. Nothing quenches the thirst.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Going back to work tomorrow. Finally starting to feel like myself. It took longer than the 5 days that I thought. I am glad I had took the additional days off. I am down 25lbs. Now the real challenge begins. I feel good about the 25lbs but now I have to make sure I follow the program. Water, Protein and Walking. Everything seems possible when you feel well. Thanks to all your advice and support I made it through this part of the process.

@@Elisha1015 - I am 3 weeks out too and have had a hard time the past few days keeping things down. I am on soft foods and did fine the first week on them. About the only thing I can keep down consistently right now is cheese. I had my doc call in a Rx for a liquid anti-nausea med. It helps, but makes me very sleepy! Maybe I will just sleep through the next few days until this stage passes!

Newbie on this site. Sleeved on 11/10/14 and trying to find the new normal. Tired of Protein shakes and searching for pureed recipes that won't nauseate me. Nice to meet you all... where ya from?

Hey gang....

Where are y'all hanging out?? I haven't seen posts from anyone since before Thanksgiving. I hope you're all doing OK.

I think I'm doing ok, but this last couple days I'm feeling really tired, and seem to be actually "hungry". I eat, and feel full right away, but within an hour or so I feel like I want to eat something again. I'm drinking my fluids, but still "want" something. I'm getting a little nervous that I'll eat too much, and not loose.

I don't seem to be loosing all that fast anyhow.

Any ideas?

Hey Dabliss and the rest of the gang. Today is my 4 week anniversary. I'm doing great! I've been walking 2 miles a day. My incisions are healing real fine. I don't have any pain, I am still sensitive in my belly button area, but that's it for pain.

I go tomorrow for my follow up and I decided before surgery to have all my weigh ins at Doctor appointments and at the monthly support meetings. This way I focus on fluids, Protein, and exercise, as well as the behavioral health changes.

I'm excited about the future health wise, which quite frankly is not something I'm used to.

How's everybody else doing?

Jeffrey

@@NewJeffrey - I am impressed with your walking! I don't have any energy lately and even a short trip to the grocery store seems really overwhelming. I know it will get better though.

@@Dabliss111114 - There are a couple of posts after Thanksgiving before yours. They were on the next page. I've been super tired lately too but have had a hard time eating lately so I think it is just from very low calories. I am doing better today so far (holding my breath!) so hoping that my energy level picks up soon. How much have you lost since surgery? I just looked at my weight chart on My Fitness Pal and realized I've lost more in the past three weeks than I did in the 4 months before so I am happy! They tell us not to compare with others because we are all so very different. Your weight will come off - it just takes time. Are you tracking your food intake? I am only getting between 400-600 calories a day so even though I feel really full at times, I KNOW I am not eating too much. Right now I am having to each such a little amount at a time, that I am not too worried about eating more often. I know once I can eat something that resembles more of a small meal rather than just a couple of bites at a time, I won't have to eat as often.

@@mary314847 - Welcome! I am also having a hard time finding foods that don't nauseate me right now even though I am on soft foods. meats of any kind don't go down well or stay down. I've been eating a lot of eggs and cheese and those seem to work better than most. Can you have those yet?

@@ready2B - I'm making it through. Went searching on the internet for some puree ideas, but havent found much. The spaghetti sauce/ricotta cheese combo made me very happy today. Hoping that i'm getting enough Protein, but it's not always easy to count accurately.

I bought some chicken breasts. I seasoned them overnight and then grilled them. I put one in a food processor and puree it. I can get a good 4-5 ounces. It tastes great!! You get about 23 grams of Protein. I add small curd cottage cheese (14 grams of protein) on the side and its a nice meal for a simple guy like me :-)

I had RNY on Nov. 6th. I'm down 31 pounds from final pre-op appointment on Oct 28th. I just returned to work yesterday.

I've been doing pretty good, only thrown up twice. I'm sick of my crushes medications! I miss food. Has anyone started exercising yet? I would like to walk, but it's cold in IL.

@@NewJeffrey, I'm with you. I haven't weighed myself either. Only as Dr. Appts. My scale was constantly showing up or down, never consistent. I've been on the go since Thanksgiving and I know I haven't been getting enough fluids in. Now in sick with a major head cold and trying to get in the fluids.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
