Getting banded in seattle

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm 160 pounds overweight and I'm getting banded as soon as insurance pre-approval is granted. (Pretty sure it won't be a problem since I qualify and have good insurance)

I'm scared about surgery but I've just been getting fatter and fatter for 10 years!!! It takes all of my attention to lose weight. I can't think about anything else ever, I was taught bad eating habits as a child, and I'm predisposed to being overweight. The bottomline is I don't have time to obsess about food every minute of every day, telling myself not to eat. I just eat healthy food, when I'm hungry, until I'm full then continue about my business. I need something to stop me like 1/3 of the way through the meal, and keep me from eating until the next one.

Every met a severaly obese salad eater? That's me.

Evilah

PS. Ultimate Meal rocks as a liquid complete Meal Replacement. I've been researching before surgery so I can have something decnet to drink for 2 months. (Doc is really strict about long term liquid diet before returning to mushed foods)

I will be getting banded in 12 days. I will have to be on liquids 10 days prior to surgery and 4 weeks after. It is amazing how every dr requires different things. Good luck.

it's easy.....i've been banded for 6mos .. starting weight 237 now 208-- I was on solid foods 1wk post op... didn't have any problems...

just some advise.. try to sleep in a recliner for appx 4-5 days after surgery...it helps the gas build up.. the gas travels if you lay down flat and can get trapped ...it hurts like heck...good luck...

I keep thinking, am I going to have a bad outcome? Then I think I am being too paranoid! I don't know what to think!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
