Hi everyone, I didn't vanish. Just been a little depressed. Turns out I have not lost any weight in so long (3 weeks) and I don't feel as good as I used to. I run out of energy way too quickly and even exercising gets me so tired I think I am going to pass out. I have blood work next week and the 6 month appointment at the end of the month. Let's see what they say. I think I have lost muscle mass because now I can hardly carry anything. I am sad. I thought the worst was behind me. Perhaps it was my fault I didn't exercise as much as I should have early on but I just could not. I think when I lost 40 pounds I felt amazing but since losing 80 lbs I feel worst. Now I can only do anything physical for short amounts of time and I have to take a break. One hour of gardening is all I can handle. I do look good though. I am wondering if it's a low blood sugar thing or low Protein. My blood work was fine at the 3 month check up. Not sure what to do.

@Beni--That's exactly how I was feeling about a month ago. I increased my Protein and I've had a significant improvement! How much Protein do you get? I still haven't been able to get in as much as the Dr. wants me to (60-80g) but I'm getting in the high 50's at least, which has REALLY helped my energy level. And when I increase my protein, it boosts the losing too.

My pattern for losing seems to be, I stay the same for about 2 weeks, then I'll drop 2-3 pounds. So I'm slowing down on the losing, but I try to stay positive knowing every couple weeks, I'll drop a little.

Now if I could just get my tailbone/ hip crap under control. I'm on week 6 of physical therapy. I have some improvement, but still a lot of pain. My PT was going to contact my family Dr. this week and see about getting some more imaging done. So odd that I lose 74 pounds and now my back/ hip hurts?!

Finally, after a 3.5 week stall, the scale moved significantly.... 5 pounds. I am now officially 80 pounds lighter than I was last July! Since surgery, 53 pounds.

Thanks, everyone. I am going to try more Protein. I am not getting enough. I eat protein at every meal but I added the average day and it's not enough. I think I am going to supplement in the short term and will have to eat even more meats. I am going to try that for a week and see if I notice any improvement. Yuck! I had a soccer game to take a child to, stopped at two places on the way home and I have to go take a nap and it's only 11:30 AM.

I think you'll really notice an improvement Beni. I'm enjoying beef jerkey and greek yogurts to help increase mine. I just can't get enough in at my 3 meals.

@@Beni I am so sorry you are not feeling great. One of my mentors who is 6 years out warned that a lot of folks get some sort of depression around the 6 month mark, so be sure to be kind to yourself. I hope the doctor can figure out what's depleting your energy level so you can get back to your usual happy self. Cyberhugs. <3

My labs from the GP came back fantastic. My HDLs are over 40 for the first time in my life. Everything else looks great. I'm so happy with the results. I see the surgeon on Tuesday for my 6-month check up (a little early), and I hope I've lost enough for him to schedule the repair of "Oscar, Ernie and Bert" - three huge surgical hernias that have restricted my exercise plan considerably ("nothing that pushes, pulls, or in any way puts pressure on your abdomen"... really?! What exactly does that leave?) I'm tired of Oscar the Grouch calling the shots. Originally, we thought it was just one hernia that I'd nicknamed "Oscar the Grouch" because it would sit up like "ALIEN" on my stomach when it got irritated. I was hoping the surgeon could repair it when he did the WLS, but when I woke up, he said, "Oscar had his friends Bert, Ernie and Elmo with him. I took care of Elmo (a hiatal hernia), but Oscar, Ernie and Bert will have to wait until you've healed and lost some weight to avoid recurrence." [Attaching photo he took during the surgery for the non-squeamish. To the squeamish, LOOK AWAY!]

I'm not really looking forward to another major surgery. That will be 5 in the past 3 years. But I am ready to get rid of "the triplets."

@Luna222--I wish I was near you! I use Young Living Essential oils and I know of a few of them that would really help you with pain relief and numbing the area. :(

I've had jaw pain for 3 days now because of some minor dental work (I have TMJ, so anytime I even get my teeth cleaned, I know I'm gonna be in a pain for a few days) and I've been applying my oils and using ice packs.

I'm sure mine is NOTHING compared to what you're feeling. You poor thing!

That really sucks they can't get you in earlier than the 29th!!! WOW!

Thank you! I did some research, and unfortunately I didn't have any clove oil or a few of the others recommended, but I did try some of the Doterra On Guard oil that I have. It gave a little bit of relief....but honestly, and I KNOW this is so bad lol....but jelly Beans is what really helped me thru lol. I had some spiced ones, and they have the clove flavored ones in there, so between the pressure from chewing that texture, and the clove oils in the jelly bean, it would help for a little bit. Luckily I can handle sugar for that reason alone! I was desperate! Lol. Thank goodness it's over tho, cuz I didn't want to eat another jelly bean!

Next month's order is definitely going to include some clove oil tho!!!

Hey everyone! It's been a rough week, but I'm back, five less teeth later lol. I called and they fit me in for Wednesday...it was terrible, I couldn't eat or drink anything that morning, or take anything for the pain. I got there and I was in tears. But the bad teeth are gone, no more infection. I feel soooo much better. Still very sore, but nothing compared to last week! I'm on a soft food diet right now, liquids also...so I think it's kind of helping me get back on track with my pouch too which is good. I ended up gaining 4 lbs last week, probably because the only thing helping the pain was clove jelly Beans lol. But I am back down, 198 now...and no more jelly beans!!!

@@Beni I hope you are feeling better girl! I absolutely feel what you are going thru though, I'm sort of there myself. It's up and down. I just laid on the couch tonight and cried. I'm so emotional lately. We'll get thru it! Chin up, positive thoughts :-)

I found some pictures of me on my parents computer today, back from 2010. I was so much bigger then than I was last yr before surgery. I think in this one, I was about 295. It's funny because I happen to still have the outfit I was wearing, which was clearly very tight on me. So I put it on and did a side by side. I showed my bf, and he was like, that was you???

The scale moved, hurray. But I had to eat one of those Protein bars yesterday (not a fav) and I was a very good girl with all sorts of Protein. Beef Jerky also helped. I am going to look into how to make it because I sure need an ample supply and the natural brands (without all the strange ingredients) have just a few flavors and I am getting tired of "Oberto" Teryiaki flavor already.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. I need to pull through and being sad is going to get me in that depressive hole, I never want to go to. Today will be a better day. I am up early, I am dressed and I have a plan for my day that includes me time.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
