24 hours post-op, a little more sore than expected

Recommended Posts

Well I am finally banded!!! :rainbow: Yay!!! Surgery went great, I was nervous before, but everyone at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery Center was very nice & made me very comfortable. Plus my mom was w/me to help me get through it. I am really sore today though...more than expected. I have liquid meds that are helping. But its hard to get up and get some walking in, when I stand it feels like everything is pulling down, & it's painful. I did lose 2 more lbs. in the last week though. That helps because it reassures me that I did the right thing.

Good luck to all who are scheduled for surgery soon. It's just like they say, you take a short nap and you're all done. I shouldve listened to those that told that to me before my surgery. LOL I'll keep updating as I go on.

Welcome to your journey. Yeah, walking, a heating pad, and Tylenol were my best friends for the first few days. Did you get some Better Than Boullion? That stuff tasted so good and hearty to me during the liquid stage. Congrats on getting started!

I've been reading through a lot of posts and a lot of you say that you have shoulder pain and are getting hungry right after the surgery. I am almost 3 days after surgery and I haven't had any shoulder pain at all and I haven't been hungry or nauseous. I have just been experiencing a lot of soreness and when I stand and walk because it feels like it's pulling.

Does anyone think I have to worry about that.....and also the very tip of my tongue is still numb. Has anyone experienced that after surgery? And does it go away....I don't really feel like going through life with the tip of my tongue numb. lol Anyways, any feedback about these things would be appreciated. Thank you

You have just climbed over the fence into Bandland. I am standing on a stool on the other side, waving at you all, and getting ready to do some climbing over myself (a week). Save a spot in the crowd for me! :)

:clap2: Congratulations, and thank you for the update! They say the first step in any journey is the hardest, and you've taken that step towards a healthy life. 5 days to go for me and I careen between fear of what lies ahead and impatience to have it over with. I hope you continue to have an easy recovery, and please let us know how you're "journey" is going.

Congratulations! I just got banded yesterday too! I'm pretty sore and have a lot of gas pains. My stomach is so bloated, I look like I'm 9 months pregnant. I am excited and scared at the same time, like what have I gotten myself into. But, I know I did the right thing and I'm looking forward to a healthier and more active life.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
