I'm 6 weeks out from surgery and I have lost 70 pounds in this time. My question is why am I throwing up everything, and I get nauseous at the thought of eating anything. If someone has experienced this please help me understand whats going on?

Wow, you are on a roll! I had lost 70 pounds by like 8 months after surgery, lol. You may be eating too quickly. I am 13 months out and the last month I have barfed at least once a day. I think my issue is with the compression garment I have to wear following my plastics procedure, but it definitely reminded me of how important it is to eat slowly because the compression mimics the way I felt the first few months after surgery. I notice that especially with dense Proteins like fish, chicken, or steak, if I eat too quickly, I end up with a throat that feels the need to froth and ooze goo until I throw it up.

So..maybe try being really deliberate with how long you chew and how slowly you eat?

Good luck! :)

Oh man. How do you feel? Are your labs ok? That is a lot of weight loss very quickly.

I am one month out and am pretty food-phobic too. Everything tastes awful! I hope that changes..,

I think I have the opposite problem. I'm not sure food ever tasted so good as it does now. Something about eating small servings and tiny bites makes me savor food more.

My surgeon says nausea is normal up to 6 months post op. Maybe you need a nausea medication to help manage this. They prescribed me these little Patches to put behind your ears. Worked like a charm.

My labs are normal as far as I know, I also thought that I was loosing to fast the dr says everything is going well though, definitely going to try eating slower it take me 10 minutes to finish a half cup so ill aim for longer.

I experienced this in the first 2 months after surgery too. As far as 70lb in 6 weeks, the more we weigh (SW for me 410) the faster it comes off initially. I spoke to my NUT and she said it was fine for me to graze and take an hour to eat a meal (initially) to help me get in my Proteins etc.... it felt like I was never going to be able to eat and enjoy again !! I too would have a frothy mouth and feel just horrible... slowly but surely it is getting better. I can eat more at a meal now (still only about 2-3 oz) but I generally take about a half hour to eat a meal and I chew, chew, chew. I still get the "froths" on occasion but it seems everyday gets better. I am 2 1/2 month post op and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there, it gets better !!!

Six weeks out and "throwing up everything, and I get nauseous at the thought of eating anything." GO TO THE DR! You could have a stricture or worse if you really can't keep food down and are headed for a bad place if you're not getting any nutrition.

I'm 14 weeks out and at 6 weeks I felt like you did. The thought of eating was dreadful. I was supposed to add normal food as tolerated. But I was not tolerating much. Then I would eat and my stomach cramp on the first bite and if I kept on then really sick. I have tried to not throw up much because that feels even worse. But that half hour between eating and picking up my Water bottle to help me out was torture.

It's better now but I still come across meals that turned out not to be a good idea.

Keep working it. I would suggest to take one bite and wait to see what happens then continue. It does get better. I look forward to every next day to enjoy something just a little more than before.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
