I am 6 weeks post op... Will be seeing my doctor onWednesday. Was curious have any of you had a flu shot? I take one every year because I am a teacher and I pick up a lot of germs. Was not sure if we have to wait or if I could go ahead and have it. I'm very protective of my sleeve these days !! Lol thanks Alyce

I am just coming up on my 6 week post op. I saw my endocrinologist at 3 weeks out from surgery. He said I was fine in getting the shot. I haven't had any issues!

Get it! I am close to 4 months post-op and I teach and like a dumb-a$$ didn't do a flu shot this year, worrying about the surgery. Guess what? As I type this I am home today & tomorrow because I have what they think is a cold but is starting to look like the flu. I have a horrid headache, mucous-y in every orifice in my head, a baaaaad sore throat, cant eat much, achy, tired, and down right miserable.

Such is the life of a teacher. LOLOL

I got mine last month. I have an auto-immune disease (RA) so I have got to get it every year. I had no adverse effects because of it.

I got mine today. My surgery is next week and wanted to avoid any postponement after surgery.

I also have asthma and get one every year anyway. Plus I work at a hospital.

After reading some of the stories sure glad I did.

Like I said, will be joining this side of the journey next week.

Good luck! That first week or two was tough but once you start getting up and moving better you will be so glad you did it!

Thanks. My son is here for the first few days and he will "encourage" me to walk. So, it will be a good start and no excuses for sitting around.

And I have another friend it two that I will ask to walk with me after that.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
