Getting annoyed and being sensitive.

Well , yes you do have a sassy attitude, and I like it !!! You are going to need it if you have to continue to deal with other uninformed attitudes. You already explained to them about the health problems !! They're nurses and they STILL don't get it ?? Geesh !!! You may or may not become more outspoken when you start to lose weight, some people become more self confident when they feel stronger and better about themselves. Well, good for you for staying strong and standing up for yourself ! I think you made the right decision, and I think you're going to be very successful !! Good luck !!!

most ppl just don't understand that dieting doesn't help with us. we have tried and tried. they see the biggest loser and other wlshows and say why don't you just do that? like i'm going to go out and turn a semi-tractor tire over and over again. our health issues prohibits us from being a normal dieter. I have taken a I just don't care what you may think of me attitude. the ppl that count knows how hard I tried before surgery and are my biggest supporters so therefore my ppl. I wish you the best as you deal with this.

I love the way you described nurses. I've been one for 22 years and I totally get it. You do become very close. Almost too close. As for having to tell your manager, your HR was wrong. As for your name being on the surgery schedule, it didn't have to be. You were a pt and you had the right to confidentiality. Your friends mean well I'm sure. They have gotten comfortable in the unit just the way it is and you are threatening to change it, even if its just you youre changing. They will come around and become supportive as you show progress. But, remember, they are women, and they will also gossip. I guess that has helped me to stay on track, some of my coworkers anticipation of my failure. They don't do it on purpose, its just their nature.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
