I need to lose 9lbs before my surgery HELP!

Recommended Posts

Chelly is right on about what to do. Premier Protein has been my life saver. No fuss. Once I went on the liquid diet - that was it. I had to start thinking as though I'm post op even though I'm not. I'm living mostly on Premier Protein and Cytosport whey powder mixed with 30 cal Almond Milk. But Premier Protein is the true life saver for me. I've had to divorce myself from my romance with eating. You can get the PP from costco. If you aren't a member, do you have a friend who can help you out? I wish you luck.

PS My doc told me to lose 30 lbs. I'm almost there.

I agree, I lost 9lbs in 10 days on my pre op liquid diet. I was only allowed to drink sugar free carnation instant Breakfast drinks with skim milk up to 5 times a day. Chicken/ beef broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles.

I could only have the Protein shakes the first 9 days, on the last day, I was only allowed Clear liquids.

The first 3 days are the worst but I actually got to a point where I could not even drink 5 of those Protein Shakes a day.

I would check with your nutritionist first!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
