6 week post op check--how do I know if I am ready for a fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi All--

Many thanks for all the advice and interesting commentary on this site. Great to tune in daily and read and see what everyone is up to (or down to!).

Anyhoo, tomorrow I go see my doc for my 6 week check. I have kind of leveled off weight loss wise--down about 25 pounds and am "stuck" or plateaued or whatever. Can't lose anymore doing what I am doing. Not hungry--had a few glitches with eating too much too fast, but other than that, all is well......

What do you think? Is it time? I am exercising and still just fluctuating between 215 and 217 every day!

Please tell me what to do!

thanks!

Kimberly

The rule of thumb I got from my doc is if I am following the bandster rules and I have not lost in 3 weeks in a row I need a fill. Are you making good food choices? Drinking all of your Water and exercising? If so then maybe you do need a fill....I'm sure your doc will have an answer for you tomorrow. Good Luck~

Thanks--=

Yes, fairly good food choices, however work days (three a week) are difficult because 1. we get so little time to eat/prepare food and 2. terrible choices (high fat, high calorie) in the cafeteria.....sO I am brown bagging it and making the best of it!

Days at home are a breeze--have to remind myself to eat! No probs with water--64 ounces a day is minimum that I drink.....and spend half the day looking for a potty!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
