How soon did you start taking your Vitamins after surgery, I'm 6 days post op and the Dr told me Saturday before I left the hospital that I could wait a while to begin. They ate so huge and I don't think I'm supposed to take them at the same time.

I started immediately after my 1 week checkup, but I also went with the chewables from Bariatric Advantage. Made things much easier than trying to swallow pills.

I also take chewables, but surgeon changed me to Bariatric Fusion, has everything you need, but we as individuals, may need a tweak here and there i.e. extra Vitamin D, B, or in my case Biotin.< /p>

Chewables were an asset because I'm still in the liquid phase, so taking them was like a dessert to me.LOL

I began taking my Vitamins the day after I left the hospital. You may want to pick up a pill crusher and a pill splitter in the drug store. The large pills such as Calcium citrate, I had to crush and mix with drink in order to take them. The Vitamins need to be spaced throughout the day. I take my Calcium in the morning and early afternoon and the one that contains Iron (such as the chewable Flintstone's complete) at night.

since day 2 post-op I've been taking flintstones chewables along with Vitamins D3 and B-12. The B-12 you let dissolve on your tongue.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
