Apologize, but I have posted this before - hoping to get some new feedback.

Every since my surgery in February '13, my tailbone/butt is killing me! It really hurts to sit for any length of time. Wahh! Forget hard chairs or benches, but cars, airplanes, soft chairs, couches...bicycle forget about it!

I have never fallen or injured myself - could it really just be the lack of fat that I was used too. I have lost 150lbs, but have been stable for 6 to 9 months. I would think that at some point I would adapt. I do lots of exercise to build up the area - squats etc. I had to give up stationary bike.

Would love some help - why has this happened, how can I make it go away, what can I do to live with the pain? I have a chance to travel internationally, but am seriously considering not because I know I would be miserable....

Thanks for any help.

Ooooh, I sympathise, have had the same problem. Yes, it's a lack of fat and muscle in your butt that's the problem.

I have almost sorted it through Pilates and targeted and repeated exercise for building muscle in my backside. It takes a bit of time but it does give you some relief. I also sat to one side and with one leg over the other to shift my weight on to one cheek rather than sit directly on my tail for long periods ( we have the strangest conversations on here....) On long haul flights, I also took a little padded sheepskin pad to sit on. It all helped because once your tail gets inflamed, takes a while to calm it down.

Might also be worth a chat with your PCP....

Thanks for the input and support.

I ordered a cushion from Amazon - I'll post if it helps. Won't that be fun dragging my butt cushion on the plane!!! Still better than not fitting in the seat and having to get seat belt extender!

Appreciate any exercise recommendations.....

Have you been to a doctor about it? Just to make sure everything is okay and it's just your skinny butt? I don't want to alarm you,but I had a friend with the same symptom. Turned out he had bone cancer that started in that area...like 8 said I don't want to alarm you but I would feel better if you got it checked out :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
