I'm 3 days post op and I have never been in so much pain. And I can get my liquids down. My feet ate so swollen. I'm having to sleep on the couch. I know it's going to all be worth it but I hate feeling like this. I'm not hungry at all which I guess is a good thing. What more can I expect?? Anyone else have this much pain???

YES! Those first 3 days were the worst of my life, and i've had 3 kids! Three days was it though, it started getting much better after that.

Be patient for just a little longer...

Today is one week post surgery and the first 4 days I had so much pain too. Honestly it's only today I'm feeling more myself. Follow the rules, sip, walk, breathe. It will get better. Focus on the new healthier you. If you're in that much pain call the surgeon maybe they can adjust your meds.

Wish you all the best.

I'm still taking mine every three and a half hours bc if I don't it gets Si bad that the meds take forever to work. I'm almost out and I don't know if my surgeon will write a refill. I tried runny oatmeal last night and woke up with terrible gas. I know I'm not getting enough fluids. I'm supposed to drink 8 oz over the course of an hour. My feet ate swollen two times their size. Do any of you know what's causing that? Not enough fluids?

I'm four days post op and much better than yesterday. Walk, sip, breathe! Best advice! I have read other folks say day 3 and 4 are hard the you really start to feel better! I'm counting on that! I'm taking my Tylenol every four hours and it seems to help! I took a shower this morning and feel human! I had a cup of decafe coffee which really feels normal! Now I'm sipping on my Protein Shake just visualizing the healing! Hang in there!

Day 2 was my worst day, but the whole first week was kind of ugly. I know it's the last thing you want to do, but walk. Even just around your living room. It will help wake up your system and get your kidneys active so they can help release that retained Fluid. Drink and walk and breathe deeply, just like everyone has said - and be patient (if you can, I was and am horrible at this). It will get better! I'm on Week 3 and feel really good. :)

I'm 3 days post op and having the same problem. The pain is awful and I can't keep anything down, including pain meds. I sure hope this gets better. ????

Krydmo,

Hang in there! Try cutting up your pain meds into pieces they are much easier to swallow and you'll only need a smaller amount of Water. Keep taking small sips, walking eases the pain and breathe! Your on your way to a new fabulous you!

I am day 4 post op. I could do nothing. I was shocked at how immobilized I was. Walking was a big help. Today is so

Much better. Walked around the house outside several times. Going to do so again. Had nectar Popsicle and put unflavored Syntrax into strained cream if potato

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
