Anyone max out on fills??

Recommended Posts

I have had 3 adjustments totalling about 6 cc's in a 10 cc band. Has anyone ever been adjusted to the full 10 cc's??

I am at 9.5 ccs in a 10 cc band. I have good restriction but am quite far from my ideal weight. I'm not sure what will happen if I max out the band and the weight still isn't all gone.

Hi there,

I currently have 10cc's as well. The folks at my doctor's office said they have people with more Fluid in their bands than 10 cc's if necessary. Don't quote me on it but I think they mentioned they had some patients with 13 cc's. I, too, was worried about maxing it out but they said not to worry.

So, there are plenty of other things to worry about... I'm not letting this be one of them! :)

I have a 4 cc band I have been filled up to 4.4 cc's. That was too tight and he took me down to 4.2 cc's. I had to have my band emptied to have surgery and he only actually got 3.6 cc's out. Apparently I lost .6 cc's. My band will only hold Omnipague. Saline leaks out. Hopefully the Omnipague isn't leaking too! I went back and got filled back up to 2.3 cc's. Next month I will go back and get filled back up to 4.2. Wish me luck! The bands do hold more than what they are supposed to hold.

I'm confused. I have a 10cc band and was told I am almost at max-2.9cc. I'm not feeling tight and am kind of frustrated that my doctor told me they can only go about .2 cc more

Hi, I'm thinking that you have the 10mm band that holds 4cc's. And that maybe he means 2 cc's more???? They say the 10mm band can hold up to 5 to 6 cc's but it is advertised to hold 4cc's. It is the middle size band, the others are the 9.75 and the 11-vg band.

How does the doctor decide what band to use?

From what I understand they decide in surgery, when considering your stomach, stoma size, and your BMI.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
