Post surgery hunger and eating

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Monday the 15th and i feel like i am drinking too much....like i can drink 1/2 a bottle of Water in about 30-45 minutes and when i drink my meals i drink about 4 oz in about 45 minutes....i just feel like i am doing something wrong.... Tonight i feel hungry and idk why.. Im scared to death of stretching my pouch out so i measure everything. Actually after reviewing it takes me an hour to drink 1/2 bottle of water...so it seems normal i am just worried about it

Congratulations on the success of your surgery. I had my surgery on Tuesday. You might want to try sipping instead of drinking, I regalize that I had a problem with glupping and so bought sipping Water bottle before the surgery. http://smile.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_1_7?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=camelbak%20water%20bottle&sprefix=cambelb%2Caps%2C215

I bought the 20 ounce bottle and I sip one bottle over 3 to 4 hours. I also mix my Water with 1/3 to 1/2 Isopoure zero carb drink (http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/drinks) which means that I am gettiing about 40 gms of Protein.

I am not hungry at all. I think it is because of the constant intake of Protein.< /p>

Hope that helps

Well i do sip.. I get about 5 sips an ounce and i sip all day (when I say drink, im not meaning gulping) i walked quite a distance last night.. Probably why i was feeling hungry so late.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
