Hi Tracy! Welcome to lapbandtalk! I was banded 1/30/07 and I can't say enough about the band. I absolutely love my band. I have no regrets about the surgery except that I didn't have it done sooner. Feel free to ask any questions, I would be more than happy to answer anything to help. Best of luck to you on this journey. Gigi:)

Hi Tracy- To respond to your questions-I was banded 0n 1/30/07. The surgery only took about 1 and 1/2 hours to do,but you also have to spend some time in the recovery room- probably about 3 hours total. I did stay overnight in the hospital, though some doctors do the band on an out-patient basis. Don't be nervous! You will do just fine! How much weight do you want to lose? I've lost 40 pounds so far. I really love the band. It is a wonderful tool! Talk to you soon! Gigi

:clap2: Hello everyone. Started researching a year ago and decided to take the plunge about one month ago. Yesterday was surgery. Did on an outpatient basis. Pretty sore but feeling very positive. Look forward to making some friends on the site.

Hello all -

I was banded on 4/30/07 in Duluth, Minnesota. The journey has been interesting with an original start more than a year prior to surgery date. I was one of the patients whose DR required 2 weeks of liquid protien prior to surgery, so I was able to lose more than 20 pounds prior to banding.

I am very excited about the future. I look forward to sharing and helping as we all move forward.

Journey on!!!!

Hi I'm new to the site and have my first appt. June 5 for the orientation. I am so excited!! Everyone is such an inspiration, especially to a beginner! Can anyone tell me what the time frame has been for them between appts. and the actual surgery. I'm in Calif. Sacramento area but am going to San Francisco for the procedure, I have Kaiser and S.F. is the only Kaiser so far that does the procedure. Also wondering, can you actually be turned down for this? I am about 100lbs. overweight so I know that won't be an issue, what else do they consider. I know I'll get all this info. at the first meeting but I'm so excited and so afraid I could be turned down for some reason. Any input would be great. And good luck to everyone.

Wow, welcome to all the newbies....that is great to see so many people interested in being banded and the new ones that have been banded, recently....

I was banded on 4/6/07....I was required to go on liquid diet two weeks pre-op and then two weeks post -op....I have lost a total of 27 lbs..I will have my first fill on 5/17/07....

My surgery was a self-pay...15,000.00 but worth every penny...I had my surgery done at a surgery center here in my hometown...I was taken back for surgery around 9:00 and was home by 11:30..so 2 1/2 hours total....I did just fine...little soreness, but nothing major...I also had a hernia repaired at the same time I was lapbanded....I am so glad I had this surgery done...I couldn't be happier...I have been a bit anxious at times, only because I am so afraid I will do something wrong...I eat what I am told to eat, and I don't eat, what I have been told not to eat!!! I follow the diet to the letter....after paying 15,000.00 out of my pocket, you can bet I will do everything possible to be a success....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
