Waiting Game...

Recommended Posts

First of all would like to thank everyone that posts here, the information is first rate. I am sort of new here posting wise, but have been reading the posts almost on a daily basis.

Now that the months have gone by it almost seems surreal. The closer i get to the 6 month mark the more i find myself thinking, do i really want to have this done?

I reckon i just wanted to ask how others have over come the little voice in the back of there head doubting there choices.

PS: We do say" I reckon" down here :D

Mistel, where are you from? We say reckon here to.

I too have asked myself if I want to go through this, it's kinda scary, A big life change. I am 57 years old and to change my habits will be a big deal. But in my head also I say I can do it. The drinking will be a big deal for me, I'm on 2 different allergy pills and Water pills and I get dry mouthed a lot. Hardly enough spit to swallow the food. So that will be my biggest task to cross.

Oct 15th I will have all my dr visits done! Yeah, it's getting closer and closer.

Yeah just my mind playing tricks on me, know i both need and want this. Living in the etreme SE corner georgia.

Well already made so many changes to my life style , dont eat anything processed , or anything with carbs, and everything is organic, homrone free , and antiboitoic free. Has made a big differenace.

My new unform is already falling off and my feet lol, new work boots to big. So thats whats sparking the little evil monkey chatter in the back of my brain, hate the doubt.

I raise a glass of diet green tea to you :D Cheers on the reply, good to know there are other people out there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
