Am I just being paranoid? Please help

Recommended Posts

So I was sleeved on 9/4/2104 I feel good struggling a little with Water intake but getting better. I am super paranoid about getting complications. My wife says I am being crazy and she might be right but I keep reading horror stories of people having complications two weeks out and I know everyone says it's is only 1% but still I am scared about it. Do I really need to be this scared? Please help

I think a little healthy worry is alright. It keeps us vigilant. Just be exacting in all that you do and you should have now worries. Good luck, this will be the best thing you ever did!

You can't control IF a complication is going to happen. Follow your plan provided by your doc. That's what you CAN control.

You've made it thru the past week with no complications - consider that a success!

Focus on your fluids and Protein intake and taking care of your body. Rest when you need to. Walk when you can.

You're going to be fine - worrying about things is not going to get you anywhere.

Hopefully your bariatric team is one of those that assured you that you could call if you had any concerns. Other than that, fluids first, then Proteins, then all the other stuff.

What is the point of worrying about any of it now. It is a done deal. what ever comes or doesn't you will deal. Meanwhile, stay on the program your team has set out for you and then if something happens deal! There is no other option but to deal with everything that comes our way. One step at a time! :)

Anthony, have a little faith. You had good doctors and you will do fine. Have some confidence in yourself too. The first 5 or 6 weeks is pretty tough as far as eating and drinking but it really does get easier. We all struggle at first with the eating and drinking so I can see where it has you worried but please put those worries aside and focus on those things in which you actually have control. Worry accomplishes nothing but focusing on eating and drinking right will ensure you of success and isn't that what you are after? Relax and enjoy the ride on this weight loss journey....you are in for some exciting times. 6 months from now when people are constantly complimenting you .....you will wonder why you wasted any thoughts on problems that you will never have. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
