looking for buddies who had 200+ to lose

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am having my sleeve surgery on 9/17...I am very anxious and I am looking for successful stories of folks losing 150-200+ lbs.....

I have about 190 lbs to lose and I am terrified of stalls and things I have heard but from the folks I am hearing this it is all who have under 100 lbs to lose.

I could really use some enlightenment or words of advise from folks who have the same amount to lose.

I'm supposed to lose 170 to reach a "healthy" BMI. I started at 315. I was 309 when I started my 2 week preop and now I am 200 (anxiouslybawaiting the 199).

Surgery date was 12/13/13. I am almost 9 months out and down 115.

I've gone from a 26/28 down to a 14 so far.

I chose to be very low carb. I don't like artificial sweeteners so I only drink Water. I still don't drink with meals.

I've definitely had stalls but I just stay the course because it's a numbers game and if you're doing what you're supposed to, it has to work.

I'm shooting for losing as much as I can in the first year since that window gets smaller and smaller every day. I don't eexercise a lot but I can move so much easier now, I'm out hiking a lot and doing tons of yard work.

This will be TMI but usually my stalls will break once I have regular movements. I have issues with Constipation. Miralax is great, but not in plain Water. If you drink other SF things, take miralax daily.

I'm 41 and 5'2 and have been overweight most of my life so the saggy skin is gross, but so worth it.

My surgery was last wednesday and I started at 402 the day of surgery so I am looking at losing well over 200 pounds as well. I really thought it would be harder after surgery but so far, I feel great. We are really close in surgery date so we should keep up with eachother...might help to have a buddy doing things at the same time.

:D

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
