My. Dr. wants to scope me... is something stuck?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill last Wednesday 1CC in a 4CC band everything was fine until Sunday. Felt tight had a little trouble with some foods but nothing major. Monday had some chicken and bam felt a little stuck. Since that day, off and on pain in my chest and back. Not always when I eat but just off and on and the feeling of an air bubble low in my throat. I called the Dr. yesterday and he had me come in and removed what little Fluid was in the band (he said most of it was to prep the band) and to take some meat tenderizer that evening. I am supposed to call if I don't feel better today and he wants to scope me and fish out whatever is stuck. I still have the bubble feeling and slight discomfort but not the same pain from before. Could I just be irritated? Please respond if anyone has had a similar experience. I don't want to have the scope if I don't have to. PS. I can eat and drink normally is that possible if something is stuck?

If your doctor thinks something is wrong, you should let him do the scope. The fact that you are eating normally probably does mean that nothing is stuck, but that doesn't mean there isn't some other issue.

Better safe than sorry!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
