Did my final surgeon visit yesterday. He said I'm doing great and I've lost almost 20 pounds since I started with their program in May. I was scheduled for surgery on Monday 10/6, which is what I was hoping for. Having said that - I am now terrified! I am second guessing myself and wondering if this is what I should do. I know deep down it is and if I don't do it now, I will be kicking myself for not doing it. It just seems more real now and it's a little scary! Any words of wisdom, ways to psych myself back up for this, or anyone else getting sleeved around the same time - I'd love to hear from you!!

Thanks!

Karen

Congrats in your weight loss so gar. I am getting sleeved on 9/15/14. All I can say to y is feeling nervous/second guessing your decision is normal. I myself can't tell you how many times I have second guess my decision or thought about if I can loose the weight on my own in a supervised diet then I don't need surgery. But what it comes down to is that I have trouble keeping it off which reminds me that that is why I am here and chose wls. You can do this. All the thoughts and emotions you are going through are natural. But keep up with the good work

I second guessed myself the week of surgery. My husband told me to think of the things I want to do that isn't possible because of my weight and that is the reason why I decided to get sleeved. I told myself that over and over. Even after surgery when the honeymoon period was over.

Since the surgery I don't need my cane, wheelchair or walker and it take a lot to get me tired. Compared to what it was when I first met on March 31 of this year.

Just think of the small victories at a month in.

Best decision I have made. That and my husband. Make sure your support system is there to smack you on the butt when need be. Lol Or come on here and we'll smack you too.

Best of luck to you both.

Today is the first time I am having second thoughts my surgery is a week away. I have been on a pre op diet and lost 10 lbs and feel pretty good. It's been 7 months now since I started this Journey and have been reading post and everyone pretty much has all theses feelings and I sympathize as we all struggle with our thoughts. But in the end as I read post op threads I see there is a rainbow and an end to this curse of having weight to deal and struggle with, that's how much I hate it and I want it not to ever be in my life again, I know I sound emotional but I'm even feeling better now writing this post to vent. We will all get through its a process. Best wishes to you all.

Hi! I'm going to chime in as well. My surgery date is October 17. Like you, I started getting nervous when my Dr. gave me the date. I even got a little upset when my friends got very excited for me when I told them of my date. A little irrational, I know. However, every time I get nervous I think about the things that I will be able to do and the possibility of getting off some of my meds and that helps to keep me focused. I also specifically read the success stories & deliberately stay away from the negative. Just remember the reason you started on this path and know you are not alone.

Thank you Kathy for your reply and I wish you all the best :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
