I Don't Want to Buy New Clothes In Plus Sizes

Recommended Posts

I have been afraid to try GwinnieBee. What happens if you stain or rip the clothes? What if the clothes don't fit? Does that still count as a rental?[/quote

I've used the service for about 6 months, while I've not had any accidents, I've read online that they understand that accidents happen from time to time.

It's like netflix so you have an unlimited # of items out at a time. If you don't like/don't fit, just send back and they'll send you something new.

I'm about two thirds of the way to my weight loss goal and am in a bit of a dilemma. Most of my clothes are too big and look sloppy on me now. But when I try on new clothes, I find that I still need to buy plus sizes in tops and dresses. Most of my weight loss has been from my bottom half! And my bosom has hardly shrunk at all. I've been hoping that things will even out as I get closer to goal and intended to wait before getting too many new things in a (hopefully) interim size. But my baggy clothes are starting to get me down. Although I hate spending money on clothes that will only fit for a month or two, I guess it's time to break down and do it. I just wish they made clothes for us apple-shaped women. It seems that most things are made for pear shapes. I feel like starting an apple-shaped women's movement. Hmm. I need a slogan.

There's a forum here where women exchange clothes different sizes and shapes. I can't remember the name, however, they also discuss shopping at various thrift stores and clearance racks until they reach goal. That's a great idea so that's what I started doing.

I have to put in another thumbs up for Gwynnie Bee... I've gotten some really cute clothes from them (and some losers that I immediately mailed back). I do the 3 out at a time plan, so I always have at least 3 cute dresses to wear that fit nicely. It's been fun having to "dump" my online closet and put smaller sizes in. I think I pay $80 a month and if I went out to buy something in my size, I'd probably spend that much, but now I get 3 dresses instead!

Only problem (and I know, it's a good problem)... I'm down in the 10/12 range now and I'll be dropping more soon so nothing from them will fit anymore... a good problem to have! :)

I thought I saw this posted somewhere here but now I don't.... so in case it's not here... I just found out about an online shop where you can send in your old designer clothes for cash or buy someone else's used clothes at really good prices. Like online garage sale.

www.thredup.com == see some cute stuff there -- and they have plus sizes, too.

I like to go to Ross, TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I got a $99 Vince Camuto skirt for $20. At Macy's on the clearance rack I got pair of Jones New York trousers originally $95 for all of $16. I love a deal.

I have a great thrift store near me that has racks and racks of fantastic, name-brand clothing. It's very clean and I just got done shopping there because I bought "new" clothing for school (I'm a teacher) and my surgery is scheduled for September 26 so there was no way I was going to lay out big money at a regulat store. Try it--you might like it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
