Got Aetna? Got approved? How long did it take?

Recommended Posts

I am in the submitting to insurance stage and I have Aetna. I was told it could take up to a month.

Did you have Aetna and get approved? How long did it take from the day you submitted?

I am SO READY and just hope it happens fast!

I saw my doctor on the 28th of July, and they were going to start the process then. My approval came in officially on Monday (August 25th), so, 3-4 weeks was my turnaround time. I was starting to wonder, given I was two weeks away, but everything is ready to go for September 9th!

Best wishes for a speedy approval!

Jerry

When I had my lapband in 2010, mine took 24 hours. In May 2014, when they went to get approval for band removal and then sleeve surgery. It took about 2 weeks. And the only reason because Aetna asked my Dr's office for some paperwork and they never sent it. Good luck to you.

I have Aetna and my paperwork was turned in on July 30th. I received approval from Aetna on August 8th. All together it took them 8 business days.

My paperwork was rec'vd by Aetna yesterday (monday 9/16). I'm counting the days to approval. I will update this post when I hear back. Hoping it's soon.

I called Aetna today to see and I have been APPROVED! Super quick turn around. Waiting on the surgeon's office to call me since I beat them to the punch, ha. Good luck!

boy, i'm glad to hear that some of you had better turn around times than a month. i have aetna also, and am expecting to be submitted for approval some time next week after my last weighin... and i've been counting on getting my surgery in october. reading about a one month turn around is a bit depressing. i would be calling them every day to check up on it -- patience is NOT my strongest virtue.

Paperwork was submitted on a Tuesday and received on Thursday. Monday the nurse put notes in. Friday I was denied. I needed 25 more days to meet the 90 day diet. Went back to the BUT on day 92 and paperwork wad resubmitted. I was approved 2 days later. It was a rollercoaster but not too bad

n. Once it was approved. I had no requirements he removed the lapband in May. I had to wait 2 months to have the sleeve. But decided to wait until the summer was over. I did have to have an endoscopy done.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
