:help: hey everyone. i was banded last wednesday. recovery has been real difficult for me. i ended up back at the sugeons yesteday i am completly dehyderated i have not been able to get much down i had an episode tuesday night i had maybe less than 11/2 tea cup of Soup it would not go down i tried to walk it off but that didn't work i felt a bit nauseus and took 2 teaspoons of childrens gravol and i was higher that a kite i felt so horrible and scared. i called my clinic and the surgeon had me in early the next morning it ended up that i had Fluid in the lining of the band which is a nomal procedure but most don't even notice it the nurse took 4cc out. i am now able to get fluids down a lot better since yesterday but still not as much as i think i should. i am still in pain still difficult to get around. my nurse said i was still quite fresh out of surgery and that it takes longer for some people and my surgeon gave me another script for codiene thank god! its frustrating but my husband and my mom who is a nurse as well say i am pushing myself and just to be patient and relax. any experienced bandsters out there have any advice? or have experienced this? don't get me wrong i am very happy to have been banded and excited about it i have a wonderful surgeon and nursing staff top notch care i have had nothing but best and a great surgery experience. i am just frustrated any hel from you guys would be so appreciated. thanks everyone :sick

Just try to relax...just take sips of Water when you can...if you are one week out, are you allowed to drink broth? Try to get a little nourishment and just continue to drink your water...I dranked skim milk and Water for the two weeks after...oh, and slim fast...of course I could only drink a few ounces at a time, but it helped with the hydration....The first few weeks for me was a little shaky, but I am 4 weeks out now and am doing fine...no pain...I can eat a half a cup of food at a time....I eat three meals a day ...1/2 cup servings...no sugar,no caffene...I feel pretty good...

Hope you are feeling better soon...It just takes a few weeks to really start feeling good....

I am about 3 weeks post op. I had trouble with dehydration and getting my strength back. My doctor told me to sip Gatorade because it had a little sugar in it. He was more concerned about the dehydration than about me having a little sugar. I have been scared to death of eating in public and pbing. I have not started solid foods yet, still on mushies. I will start solids tomorrow and I plan to eat at home for a while to get used to what I can eat. I would suggest eating creams or mushies (or a slim fast for lunch if you work)when you go out until you get used to what you can tolerate.

Good Luck.

missyr,

I had similar problems. I am 3 1/2 weeks out and I had swelling for the first two weeks. I had trouble keeping anything down and had to be put back in the hospital for dehydration. They gave me two rounds of steroids and FINALLY the swelling went down. Just know that it will pass and in the meantime, you will lose weight! I know it is miserable not being able to eat or drink. I drank Vitamin Water, a few sips at a time throughout the day and had some chicken broth twice a day. It was heavenly when I could finally have something thicker, like Tomato Soup and chocolate pudding! Get lots of rest!

hi everyone. my surgeon called me yesterday to make sure i was ok. i talked with him for a bit so that helped and i wasn't scared anymore. i saw him this morninig. he assued me i was ok he said this happens sometimes the tightness will subside. but he said no way to me even starting purreed food tomorrow he wants me to stay on liquids until i can get them down with no problems. he said it will take some time untill i can start solids and even then a little at a time. he said i will definitly not need a fill for quite awhile well over the 6 week mark. he said i had some bad bruising in the area buti do naturally bruise easily just makes things a little uncomfortable good thing also is that my incisions are healing nicely another goog thing is that i feel no hunger so the liquids don't bother me none. oh yeah i had a very dramatic weight loss 16lbs in 2 weeks! my surgeon said WOW butwhen things get back on track he would like to see the 1-2 lbs per week.

thanks again everyone

missyr

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
