There are several things that I'm looking forward to-- probably the biggest is to get rid of the power of fear- fear to try new things- fear in how I look to others- fear of how I look in clothes- fear of how I look without clothes on- fear of trying yoga, or jogging because my mind erases the can do it before I even try.

I'm so excited to becoming a better me!!

On the downside- I'm never sick, and I'm now starting on a Zpack today. I can't believe the timing- I should be home in bed, but that wouldn't cut it at my job since I'm taking a bunch of time off for surgery!

Good luck and I'm so excited for all of us!

Hi how are you feeling!

All my appointments are finished- I had preop stuff yesterday.

I get 8 weeks off !!

This weekend I can only do Clear liquids, and sf Jello, Popsicles .

I looked up how to make homemade beef and chicken broth, cause even the low sodium ones that you find in the store has lots of sodium.

I'm making chick and beef broths in Saturday then freezing them.

I did tell my husband and 15 year old boy that kitchen is off limits all weekend and they should plan to watch football elsewhere this weekend!! ( so no snackey foods or smells of food are allowed) !!

My husband has been great, but I don't want to see or smell temptations!!

I'm so excited. I'm having sleeve surgery on Monday Sept 8th in Oconomowoc Wi. I've been on my rote in shakes now for 11 days and I've lost 12 pounds. I'm so excited for this journey. I haven't had many problems with this diet. Anyone from my area that also has Dr Peter Garza?

Surgury is Monday.. OMG time has flew by. today is my last day of work and then I will be off for 2 weeks. I would love to have been able to take more time off, but thats all I can afford. I am so excited my pre op diet has been great. My doc is not as strict because we just do low carbs for 3 weeks and then Clear Liquids after 6pm on sunday!!! He says he does not believe in the liquid pre op. OH Well good for me :P . I got my hgb a1c and it is down from 11.5 a month ago to 8.6 now.. Wow i cant believe i did it. I'm bigger than most of you so what I am looking forward to first is being able to see my lovely manicured toes without bending over or lifting my feet.. Its the little things.. I have a lot of others I am looking forward to.. shopping in a normal store....not casing a room when i enter it for a chair that looks big and sturdy enough for me... Water slides with my kids with no fear of getting stuck... disneyland and not being worried that I wont fit in the rides. not always being the biggest girl in the room.... being desribed as the pretty nurse with brown hair and not the big nurse...I have lost 15 pounds pre op diet and 35 pounds so far this year..... I am so ready for this.... Good lucky all and lets all post befor and after surgury on Monday....

I start my pre op diet tomorrow as well.

I'm glad to hear others are doing so well on it!

I hate to even admit how emotional I have been today!

Just a lot of stuff going through my head.

Talked with my doc yesterday over the phone and I am number 2 on the list Monday morning!

Praying that everyone's weekend flies bye and we all have fabulous surgeries

I'm happy as well... I had the head stuff going on yesterday too, so many different emotions can't wait to sleep during surgery to rest my poor brain! They told me to be a hosp at 5:30 am on Monday. Best of luck and next week at this time we will be on the other side and helping each other with post op......:)

I have a pan of sugar free lime Jello in the fridge, a pitcher of crystal light made up... Homemade beef broth and chicken broth simmering!!

Let's do this !!! Woop woop!!

Also, something that works for me, if I get hungry and sick of Soup, I'm going to drink a cup of hot tea or even just a hot cup of water- that settles my stomach!

Going to yoga in the park- ( I've never done yoga, but it's a fundraiser and my other yoga virgin friend is going also)...,

All prepping for a new lease on life!!!

Good luck everyone!!

I check in at 7:30 Monday!!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
