Sliming question...

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering is sliming and generally feeling a bit sick and incredibly full is from being stuck of just over eating?! Just had my second fill and only a month and a bit out so obviously kinda still trying to figure out what's going on when I feel stuff happening!!

So I just wondered if anyone could explain to me the difference of the feelings of over eating and being stuck?! I appreciate everyone is different I'm just a little confused :) thanks!!!

Sliming is caused by food backing up into your esophagus. Its your body's response to help stuck food slide into your stomach. For me its usually a result of eating too fast and too big.

Over-eating is similar to how we felt before the band. Your lower stomach is still there so we can still fill that part up with lbs of food.

Stuck is when food clogs in front of the band/stoma from not chewing enough, taking too large of a bite or eating too fast. It feels like a soft /golfball beneath your ziphoid(breastbplate). Its very uncomfortable and can be painful as well.

Ok then I'm 99% sure it's the backing up!!!

Just had a scary one! As I hadn't had that before! Sorry if it's TMI but does it feel like you need to be sick and are about to be but aren't?! Was awful!!! But I guess you learn as you go :) being a newbie to this stuff is hard!! Haha. Thankyou :)

I edited my response so go back and read the last paragraph.

It does give you a sick feeling. And then you slime. And then you should spit it up and out. It usually takes about 10-45 mins to pass.

You'll know sliming when it happens! Very scary. If I eat thick bread or too fast it happens. I guess it's the bands way of teaching you :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
