To FILL or not to fill? HELP

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone....

I had my surgery two years ago. I lost 50 pounds. In the past 6 months I have been at such a standstill. I think I am tight enough and I am making the right food choices but the scale does not move. I even walk/run about 5 times a week, I have an appointment tomorrow to see my doctor. Should I get a bit more put in? Any advice would be helpful!!!

First, congratulations on what you've lost so far, and for getting so near to your goal weight!

I've hit plateaus and pondered the same questions you are asking. I think the clue is that you not losing, yet you are following a diet and exercising. Your band may be due for a small fill. If you are nervous about the fill, I;d suggest doing it early in the week, just in case you need some Fluid removed a day or two later. You don't want to run into problems on a weekend.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

Thanks for the support! So I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he put a small amount in. He suggested to go back to the post-op surgery diet for at least two weeks. So I am doing a few days of Protein Shakes and liquids and then will move to soft foods. He feels it will give me a boost and help me to reach my goal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
