3 years post-op and up 40 lbs- feeling like a huge failure

Recommended Posts

I don't even know where to begin. I must know I need to stop the snacking, carbs and coffee drinks. my butt, hips and gut are just outta control. I never made it to goal. I just don't know what's wrong with me. I need to lose 90 lbs to get to goal. I'm right back where I started 3 yrs ago. I fear I blew my opportunity to work my sleeve! it's truly depressing... sigh...

Your sleeve is still there! You didn't blow anything. You lost 115lbs!

What do you think you need to do?

Ditto the above. What do you feel you need to do? Have you reached out to any support to help you? Did you go back to eating like after the sleeve? What about exercise. Did you ever start that or do that?

I've been busy the last 6 months with relocating cities so my exercise schedule had become non-existent. I know I need to get back to doing that. I've become a grazer which is something I never wanted to happen. carbs go down much better than Protein, so I've gotten too comfortable. I'm back up to 235 lbs. I just bummed that I allowed myself to lose momentum. it's a beast getting back into the groove.

Pagie, I know its hard, but you are back here now, and asking for help. This is a good place to be! eat a nice Protein dinner, then get to the kitchen and start getting rid of the food you know you shouldn't have. If you have family that eat it, put it someplace for them and set some ground rules. Use your MFP every day, plan Snacks (three of them if you have to!)... lay pout a couple of days of eating plans to get you off the ground. You still have a tiny tummy, you can still use it. I know its hard to get back into a routine, but maybe you can up your walking or use an exercise dvd in front of the TV or something to get you back moving. Use the old rules, protein first, no drinking with or after meals. Take your vitamins.... and come here for support! We are here for you!

Good luck to you, Pagie. If you lost 115 pounds, you can take this all the way.

Go for it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
