I had the gastric sleeve 2 years ago. I'm 53 years of age at present. I initially lost 40 pounds then stopped losing because of not being dedicated to using my tool as prescribed. I did manage to keep the 40 off. Has any one done this and rebounded from doing this successfully ? If so tell me what you did.

I can't help you from personal experience. I have a friend who had RNY surgery and although she lost 100 lbs she is still very overweight. From observation her food choices are not very healthy and she admits that she didn't do the exercise she should have done.

I think what I would say is go back to basics. What were the instructions you were given? Have you let bad habits creep in and can you change them even one at a time?

I am now doing a paleo type diet and jog/walking. I have lost about 13 pounds the past month. I was just curious to see if there was anyone out there that was in my situation.

@@veronica g Hi Veronica, I don't want you to think that you are alone in starting over. I am sure there are many on the site who are or have found themselves in your shoes.

You can start over and you are making a great start already! If you really have questions about the sleeve and perhaps getting it into "reset" mode, my suggestion is to give your surgeon's office a call and ask them if they have a prescribed diet like the pouch test or something similar that can help those who have lost their way get back on track and start again.

Best of luck to you and keep on going strong!!! Your doing great!

Check out the veterans forum for sleevers. I know there are a few that have been focused on losing a regain.

I had a small regain of 5# which oddly felt like 100# at the time - I did 5:2 and high intensity exercise to take it back off. Worked so well, I decided to lose a bit more!

Truth of the matter is that the sleeve is still there, going back to basics is probably your best bet.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
