I was 270 before 3 weeks of liver shrink diet. Started at 255 at surgery. Have not loss anything yet. Am only 7 day post surgery. Is this normal. Actually I had gained 2 to 3 lbs probably from Water and swelling

It was the same for me. But, think about it. If you're eating the way they tell you, you have no choice but to lose it. Also, I did a little research about these plateaus we all probably experience from time to time (I'm actually running an excel sheet with graphs and formulas, etc.) and keep in mind that physiologically, when you don't consume the calories you need to maintain your base metabolic rate (what we need to function), research suggests that your body take the food you are consuming and directly converts it to glycogen for quicker access. Well, for every gram of this glycogen are three grams of water. You can look up this stuff to make sure I told it correctly. But the bottom line is this: the math is the math and if it doesn't show up today, it WILL show up soon. Hang in there! I'm even plotting my plateaus in order to analyze them and better predict how my body will continue to respond.

I am 37 years old, 5 feet even. My highest recorded weight was 235#. However, when I started my recent weight loss journey in Sept 2013 my weight was 219#. I weighed 207# on the day of surgery, 4/8/14. I am 5 months post op and currently weigh 158# (61 pounds down). My goal is 130#. Although I believe I am a slow loser, I am losing so that makes me happy. I will try to upload some pictures but I'm not really a picture taker (even now that I've lost 61#).

I wish you all the best on your journey. Believe and conquer!

Hi! I hope you have a quick recovery.

Starting weight: 270 (I weighted 290 in some point)

Surgery day weight: 238

Current weight: 219

Surgery date: July 31, 2014.

I have some pics on my profile.

Yesterday the nutritionist gave me a great advise, "do not compare yourself with others. As long as you're following instructions you should not worry"

Welcome to your new life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
