First one month check-up clear for solid food! woohoo!

Recommended Posts

I've lost totally post-op 22 lbs and just saw my doctor today for the first check-up.

He told me that I should eat solid normal food now and stop with the Soup and soft food. Still no restriction for food excepr candies, sweet stuff and soda.

I took photos of most of my food during one month to show him with the portion (compare to my iPhone), he said I should eat more to lose weight. Now he ordered me to eat my meal in the portion of the iPhone!! OMG, I thought I would die from stuffing myself for that amount of food but actually it's fine. Just make sure to chew well and eat verrrrrrrrrrrry slowly.

So my first solid meal I went for Japanese, 1 small grilled ravioli, 1 beef & cheese teriyaki, 1 table spoon of rice and some green salad with sesame dressing.

Everything's gone in 50 minutes hehe except the rice because I chose to eat more salad instead.

I can exercise, go to swimming pool etc. Oh, I do have to increase also the Water intake from 1 litre to 1.5 litre.

Oh I'm so happy and feel like back to normal again. I'm eating out this weekend tomorrow I was invited to lunch at my friend's and on Sunday, brunch with my inlaws at a restaurant. It's going to be my first meal at the restaurant but my husband will be my buddy. He will choose 2 light dishes that he can eat his dish and help me with my left over, so it won't be too obvious because I didn't tell my family that I had the sleeve done.

Now I feel like the real challenge has just started.

My doctor never gave me calories limit. He is more into the small portion.

He said I should eat a little bit of everything (Carb, Protein, fat, fruits, vegetable) Oh, he told me to eat 1 Cereal bar for afternoon snack for the Vitamins... and I hate Cereal bar!!!

He said I ate too little, I need to eat more to lose more weight.

In the past one month this is the portion that I ate for 1 meal.[a

Aww, sorry to hear that.

Well, my surgeon didn't forbid me from eating natural foof at all and I trust him as he performs more than 300 patients of WLS per year.

Oh, well I wasn't telling you not to listen to your surgeon, I was just telling you what my guidelines were....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
